Description
I found the background for this piece while walking along the lakeshore. A season of winter had aged up the wood so nicely. This stunningly dragonfly necklace is a light brass and it has such beautiful detail in the wings. The old vintage steel flat key was a perfect fit so perhaps I should have called it a "Key to Flight"! The outspread wings and long tail work perfectly to create an elegant and striking necklace that could be worn everyday or for a special occasion.
The vintage key is over 30 years old and shows a bit of wear, but it's an excellent back drop for the dragonfly. I added a tiny little wrist watch part where the "teeth" are in this key to draw attention to the pattern of the key. It is a flat key, but not too heavy.
In the center of the key is a brilliant blue rhinestone. This glass stone is actually vintage - made over 30 years ago - but still a deep blue. It fit inside the key as if it were designed just for this piece.
Currently it is on my steampunk jewelry etsy shop here: [link] with a few differnt photos.

Very pretty! Simple yet elegant. I love how the rhinestone just seems to pop. Very, very pretty.
