Description
This is in a limited edition series of my cyborg Jaw necklaces. In this necklace I hope to share my love of science fiction, horror and steampunk in one necklace. I always loved the idea of cyborgs - part human and part machine... so why not cyborg animals too? Can you tell I'm a Terminator fanHalf this pice is a jawbone and the other half is part of a brass Elgin pocketwatch. You can see the engraving in the macro photo I provided. It is numbered as well - but that is on the back of this piece.
This little jawbone comes from a Mink. Its not very big jaw as you can well imagine - this piece from brass metal tip to the bottom of the jaw is only about 1.5inches (about 3.8cm). There are some little tiny bits of watch parts including a screw that decorate the jaw. There is also part of a large brass lever escapement - that part that looks like a T.

aww thank you. they are such a PITA though to design. lol. lots of drilling involved... and alas the materials aren't easy to come by.

isn't that a crazy idea! lol. little jaws snapping, gears spinning and the metalic clatter of tiny metal claws over the hardwood floor!

8D That'd sure be a talking point! Clockwork animals would make great pets: never have to feed them, no vet bills, just gotta wind 'em up in the mornings and off they go! I wrote a story once where people used clockwork insects to carry short messages about. Made me really wish I knew how to make automata.

thank you.. i think the shape is what inspired it. i have so much stuff just sitting in piles.. and i sort of look at say the jaw and remembered the piece of old pocketwatch.

That is utterly awesome. I love the idea of a cybernetic-organism-mink! Especially with the brass- the archaichy-ness makes it seem more witchcraft-sciency and eviler.

oh what a great comment! witchcraft-science! I would be good at that I suspect... maybe making amulets.

Yay! Amulets! I can't wait to see them if you do make them!
I think more bone-metal combinations would be cool for that. It gives it kind of a necromantic effect. I don't know why, but I'm thinking a cyber-barcode-hex-thing would be quite cool to. Nobody could stop a legion of sorcerous machines.
