Description
Silver Moon - Across a steampunk Night sky - garnet in sterling by clockworkZero...This is one of the most incredible pieces of Steampunk Jewelry. Not because I made it - lol - but because of the stunning engraving damaskeening - also called GuillochΓ© -pattering on the steel. This has an intricate spirograph pattern that gleams. I've added some delicate sterling silver, garnet and gears to highlight this design.
Some of the most expensive pocket watches made by Elgin had these gorgeously engraved plates inside and this is one of the best I've seen with some of the most beautiful work. How incredible to imagine that this has survived over 90 years in such great condition. (if only we could do the same!). It shines so well and doesn't and all it took was some gentle cleaning to get it to gleam. There are only of few of these in this fine condition - light scratches - but really perfect.
You can read more about it here on Etsy here:

it's fairly pricy - sigh. but yes, it's over 100yrs old - this one I've had dated to 1904. Rarity plays a factor - but also it's one in the best condition. I've seen people polish these - oooh big mistake - since they overpolish them and ruin the design. (sorry - off track a bit - my Dad taught me to polish and cut stones - so I wince when i see some of the over-polished stuff around! sigh).
anyway, its pretty!

Gorgeous piece! I agree with the overpolishing thing. Also, the use of the gears as stars is still fantastically clever.
