When I whisper of my woesHow can anyone hear
When the din of their own lives
Is ringing in their ears
Forcing a smile as they glance
Frown as they look away
Please somebody turn around
I'm really not okay
You refuse to see the signs
A deluge of denial
Drowns out my facial features
The absence of a smile
Obliged to ask how I am
Your concerns I allay
But then again I would do
I'm really not okay
Hold back the transparent tears
A dam of repression
I'll be damned if anyone
Sees through my confession
Slowly my world unravels
Life's tapestry will fray
My pain has been tailor made
I'm really not okay
I write poems and stories
Keep a diary with me
Leave it in public places
Hoping someone will see
And tell me how they have read
Up to the present day
Hold me close and say those words
Are you really okay?

This poem is touching. I think it's relatable, like how when people are asked how they're doing, they reply "fine", even though they don't mean it. Then again, it's not like the other person cares. It's just what we're used to, I guess.
I just love this poem, though.

Yeah, i think people just reply ''fine'' almost without even thinking. In fact fine probably shouldnt even mean fine now.

So , I don't know, revealing, heart-felt, emotional despair. I LOVE IT, I UNDERSTAND IT, I'VE HAVE FELT IT! And it's alright to not be ok, as long as occassionally you find your way back to some way, shape or form of happiness and stability. Been there done that for me-more than once. Thankfully I find my way back at the last moment. (except that ONE time...I needed some help, didn't want it, but I needed it!)

this is brilliant, kind of makes me want to be more careful with people. pay more attention. I want to be the one who's asking that question "Are you really okay?". A few years back a friend of mine took his own life, and living in a small town, this actually happens among us teens frequently. This poem just makes me feel so much because you never know what people are going through and you just want to be there for them when they need you. (sorry for the big personal blah) I love your poetry, and this is perfect.

At first i put a journal up offering to listen to anyone who had a problem. Then i realised i could write my poems about subjects important to them and it would show how they arent alone in how they feel. Not only because i was writing about it but also reading comments left on the poems

its amazing i can relate loads as i was sexually abused as a young girl i feel like my body screams for help but it never shows ive become used to being on my own emotionally i would love to listen to someone elses problems and advise them and i would love for someone to talk to

I am no expert but I think having been through something like that it would be helpful to speak to someone.
I think talking to others who have been through similar things too would help.

Having my situation described so wonderfully actually gives a glimmer of hope. We realise we're not the only ones having the same problem but finding another person to share it with is just hard. Thus feelings get locked up and we feel it's best to keep it to ourselves.
At least that's how I see it lol.

yeah, its such a shame too because so many feel this way and want someone to talk to. But they keep feelings bottled up. Its good their are places like this where people can talk. Like i hope someone might see a comment on here from someone and relate and then go and make friends with that person

i used to be familiar with this, and everyday thing, i used to cry myself to sleep, not letting anybody see or help.
i began to open my eyes, there are others like me... i made a promise to be strong, if not for me then for them, all of my friends and family, all of those who needs me to be strong.
now it feels like I'm blooming a little more everyday! i can truly smile.
this poem makes me think of that time, not so long ago...
be strong people, tomorrow the sun will shine again

I had to read it more than ones... it's intensive... and reflects the feelings of many people out there.
I don't want to say to many things about this poem. It's great... I tried to hold back the tears in my eyes. Especially the last verse "sounds" like a hug... a resolution of all the pain inside of the suffering and desperated person.
