Description It has been mentioned for the longest time and now it has finally arrived. I have the pleasure to present to you all the work of a more than a year. No doubt one of my most testing works as it is 36cms by 41cms and features 39 different colours. I hope that all my watchers feel the wait was worth it as Cross Stitch is not a quick art form as it would like telling a photographer to put together one of their pieces, pixel by pixel. Cross Stitch will always be a labour of love and I live in the hope that more younger people take up this art form rather than feeling it is something that only the elderly ladies perform.

I found it quite difficult to name this piece as there is a certain serenity about it many names were considered but I hope this one will suit. Anyhow enjoy.

Thank you for your kind words and the favourite. I always hear a lot of people saying they cannot perform this type of work but everyone is able to achieve it. It is always through strategy, training, dedication perfected through working with small projects and continuing onto to the larger ones. If you give a shot you might surprise yourself.

Eh-heh...I've been taught before on how to do this kind of stuff, but I still end up stabbing myself more than actually achieving anything nice. Thank you anyway though.

Yer when you do stab yourself that bit sucks but there are finger guards for that but I find they are too bulky.

Thank you. It always takes me forever to get work like this completed, I'm currently working an even larger piece which is kind of a similar vein to this one. So another year's time I'd say.

It's really nice.. I've already made also some pictures like that but they're smaller than this one.. You can see them on my page.. Now I've been doing a bigger one.. But it have to last more time..
I would like to ask you if you divide the filament... Many people do this, but me not. I can't see in this picture if you divide it or not.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cloudrat In reply to MiksTurka [2006-10-18 23:57:16 +0000 UTC]

Are you talking about dividing the filament as in performing the work on the fabric in panels. If so this image was divided into nine panels for the duration of the work. But most of the smaller project I do not divide.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MiksTurka In reply to cloudrat [2006-10-19 13:45:48 +0000 UTC]

No.. I mean dividing the stranded cotton.. I know that some people embroider only with the half of the stranded cotton I mean the thickness of the filament..

Ah now I get you. I always fold my single thread through the needle on whole stitches. However occassionally I only use the single unfolded thread depending on what technique is required.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MiksTurka In reply to cloudrat [2006-10-23 19:42:18 +0000 UTC]

But now I don't understand.. fold?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cloudrat In reply to MiksTurka [2006-10-23 21:46:29 +0000 UTC]

Folding is my odd way of explaining the way I put the thread through the needle. Really sorry for the confusion.

Woow, it's great!

What this picture is did from pattern or it was picture on material?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cloudrat In reply to AslynnForeignet [2006-10-18 20:24:39 +0000 UTC]

This is a pattern as I have never attempted to stitch one of the printed variety for fear that I might not be able to tell which threat colour should exactly match which area.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AslynnForeignet In reply to cloudrat [2006-12-06 18:25:53 +0000 UTC]

I like this picture very much! Is it possible to get/obtain this pattern?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cloudrat In reply to AslynnForeignet [2006-12-07 10:04:59 +0000 UTC]

The pattern I worked off is full of lead pencil. So what I can do is rub it all out and scan it ... otherwise I can send you the original via post. The latter probably preferrable.

Awesome!
Painters and Sculptors (with clay) are so lucky to be able to sell duplicates af their work where as for this and with what I do the actual piece of work is what's interesting. The bad thing about it is two fold 1. We get no money 2. Others rarely get to see the Art. I do woodcarving/sculpture and the beauty of the piece mainly is the beauty of the wood, so to bronze it just wouldn't work. Nice job have a good day.

cloudrat In reply to lieinbelieve [2006-10-16 02:15:28 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for your kind words. You are correct about items that are a one off ... if I was to do Cross Stitch as a job I would starve as it is so time consuming and like all art people don't appreciate the value until they try their hand at it.

I also have to say your work is beautiful and I really enjoyed your gallery.
