Happy very very late new years!! Sorry I haven't posted anything... I didn't remember to do my new years painting until January, and suddenly everything was verrrryyyy busy. But I've done a lot more traditional art lately! <3
speaking of traditional art... why is this one not digital?!
Adding another piece of digi art to my to-do list wasn't going to do anything for my stress... and since watercolors are my favorite traditional medium I decided to change things up a bit! I can promise you it looks a lot better in real life...
I learned a lot doing this. I learned that sky colors are even harder than I remembered, and that rocks aren't as hard as I had always thought.

Overall I'm really happy with this, although there are sooooo many things I'm not happy about. (Like the fact that I somehow got all those sky colors... I used my own photo for reference but I couldn't get the colors right... and the clouds for some reason don't match. They match in the photo...) Also, Draco looked amazing before I tried to shade her. My best drawing of her, I was sure. I was so proud of the wing anatomy especially, and the angle/pose. Oh well... I would still say its an improvement. Especially in backgrounds. Although maybe that's just because I'm more comfortable with watercolor painting than digital painting?

aww thanks!! I really did ;w; <33
I find it funny that I enjoy watercolors because I always saw it as 'that cheap kind of paint you give to little kids' but I had just never seen/learned how to use the better kinds! haha I had always looked at acrylics as my favorite kind bc of how solid the color can be but now its actually the tiny variances in watercolor that I really like! ;o;
