L. Lawliet is a professor of Criminology at the Wammy's Institute. His class is very difficult and has a high failure rate, but if you manage to do well in his class it becomes very rewarding. He's also known as one of the coolest professors on campus. He often gets in trouble with the head of the Criminology department, Light Yagami, for his strange and innovative approaches to teaching.He hates grading papers.
