Description
An old page. When I was first coming up with "Opey the Warhead", I had a lot of false starts. That is, I'd come up with a lot of pages that I thought was going to be the first page of the comic series but they never seemed to gel. This page was one of those false starts, opening up with the ruins of "Adam City", Opey's little hometown. After producing several full pages that would prove to be false starts, it eventually sank into my corpulent cranium to write out the first issue as a script and, when I've got that nailed down, draw it. I learn...eventually.
The woman's face in the second panel does have one crooked eye. Um...the statue was made by Picasso...yeah...that's the ticket.

Interesting what you said about false starts, I've been there too. XD
I liked this page, specially last panel, but I still prefer how you started the story of Opey at the end.

Thanks, Jade. Yeah, I think the official first page of Opey is more personal than the one, here.

Thanks, Larry. If only I can learn how to veto these pages BEFORE I spend all that time on them.

Same problem I have, not until I haved finished things, do I look back and wish I'd done something different, but what's done is done so I live with it.

Whoa... nicely dark post-apocalyptic setting.

Thanks! I've noticed a lot of my comic work is post-apocalyptic. Weird.

Could be fears about the future...

I do think the story benefited from the reveal of the destroyed world after Opey was introduced. A talking warhead with a crazy dad and a robot mom just intrigues you as to what the hell else is going on out there without the need to immediately show. That was a long sentence, and I hope it made sense.
I sympathize with you on the false starts. I must have redrawn the first page of the Lincoln comic at least 5 times, and I still want to go back and redo it.

Absolutely! There are actually pages of Opey I still want to go back and re-draw but sometimes you've got to let go of it. What may be driving you crazy about a page may not even be noticed by other people, as well.

Yep. It does say "Stupid". I can't remember why I put that there.
P.S. Thank you kindly.

Hey this is excellent! I'm not sure if people appreciate just how much skill it takes to draw something like this. I know I wouldn't want to even attempt it. Nice work Zac.

Thanks, Lyle! It's strange but I'll find myself going to town on these comic pages and only after I've drawn all that detail and composition (taking hours and hours in the process) do I wind up hating it and discarding it.
Curses.

Oh geez don't do that. Save those because someone out there would love to have it. You might make a buck or two anyway.
