First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
............is a famous statement and provocative poem written by Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the cowardice of German intellectuals following the Nazis ' rise to power and the subsequent purging of their chosen targets, group after group.

We have a Turkish story;
Wolves come to the herd and say; "Give us the brown cow and then we will let you go." The herd decides to give the brown cow. Sometime later, wolves come again and ask for the black cow. It keeps on like this until there are only a few cows left. They make a meeting in panic and ask "What will we do now??". One of them answers;"Nothing to do now... We should not give the brown cow at the begining."
