We were so lucky to find a tree expert who took it down without the use of a crane - saving us thousands and thousands of dollars

The crew did a great job of take down and clean up and I love the table top....

I have a similar old tree that may have to be taken down, and I too want the trunk as a table top...So glad you posted these, it really helps to see what the whole process and results are

glad the pix helped

we live in a suburb so huge tree tiny yard
tanks to the skills of the company the tree
came down without the need of a crane
saving us many thousands of $$$$$ !

If you have the space - someone can just
come in and take a single cut allowing the
entire tree to fall into empty space, yes?

Thank you so much.....

I had a tree service come in but the Boom
on the truck cannot fit in my garden...

I will have to have a service come in and hand trim
the really big branches.....I loved your photos,
before I saw them I never realized what a good tree
service can do if the tree is in a area that has little room to
get around in.

We contacted that service through Yelp - as Angies List and Home Improvement were of ZERO help finding any companies dealing with our sort of problem.

I was expecting to pay around $10k to have a service with a BIG crane do the job but it turned out the best estimate for that was $7,900 to cut the tree down - $500. to haul the wood away $90 to trim a very large holly and $2k per day for rental of a crane large enough to reach over my house - estimated days needed 2 but could easily go to three or even five so the best case scenario $12,4 worst $16,4k

To make matters worse - several companies refused to even give a bid because the limbs extended into my neighbors yard and came very close to electrical wires that took power to both homes as well as the central wires running from pole to pole.

Until we met Ben we were shell shocked.

It turns out he worked for ten years for the local power company trimming trees that were problematic to the main power wires - his father and he are both certified arborists and he took great pride in his ability to manage the removal without using a crane.  He produced proof of $3m liability insurance, a city license # and proof of bonding as well as an A+ rating with Better Business.     Not only that - but his quote to take it all down - trim the holly and remove all the wood was 46% less than that work from the best second quote.  After paying his original quote and tips all round it cost us about $5k.

Thankfully - with a little homework - a company with excellent experience we totally dodged a bullet.  Glad the experience will help you get your trees done - but I understand you now need to wait till late fall - no?  Anyway - very happy to have been of some value Carole

Thank you so much for all the info...

I too will have to have mine hand cut, have utilized
all the space in my garden and there is no room for a
boom or truck to come through....

Have kept your info, so I can refer back to it....
