First, I need to stress that this is totally a crack pairing, but that I think they're beautiful together.

Thank you. I just know that I wanted her femininity to contrast with the male darkness and I think that I managed, luckily. I had so much fun laying down the composition of this piece, I can't even tell you. It was such a joy. I haven't had this much fun working on a piece in a long time. His hair... oh. my. That was therapeutic. Those silky brushed back lines... I want to draw him again.

Thank you for taking the time to do this critique Koimii. Even if it is just glowing praise, it's still wonderful to hear. Thank you.

You're most welcome! I always love critiquing your work! Even though like you said, I couldn't really find anything to critique in this one because I thought everything came out perfect! ^^ I bet that hair was a lot of fun; it looks like it was fun! Crack pairing or not, they really look amazing together going off your drawing of them I can tell you really enjoyed doing this just by the amazing outcome; you know when you can just tell how much fun the artist had? XD

CMBaggs In reply to User-2018225d [2014-03-23 20:59:08 +0000 UTC]

Do you mean, his leg which is curling beneath her, or her leg which is kicked up ever so sensuously?

I don't know. I just... I wanted something that hinted at illicit affair or straight up romantic while still being totally passionate. That, and there's just something about little Jane Foster dominating him while still staying safe for most audiences that I had to play with.

Toss in a whole TON of realism practice, personal observation and a complete and unflappable comfort for using references (OMG, so MANY sources!) and TA-DAA!

Ahhhh! YOU are the best!

Okay, this is going to be a little long and winded but, here goes:

I'm in the middle of writing a Lokane fic titled "Our Darkest Days" over on fanfic . net. (www.fanfiction.net/s/9837960/1…

I am not the type of person to usually toot my own horn, but it is doing better than I ever expected it to.

I won't waste your time by going too far into detail, but it is set in Thor:TDW. They are in a cave on seeking refuge. There is a somewhat pivotal scene where Loki takes Jane's hand and presses one of his daggers into it (chapter 10, scene 2), and for Loki, it's kind of a way for him to show a growing fondness toward her without having to face it himself, if that makes sense (I am beyond tragic when it comes to a good, slow burn). In the story, it's the first time he's touched her or even remotely shown her trust of any kind. Jane realizes it.

The dagger itself is inherently Loki's; gold, green, and intricate.
"He reached down to pick the dagger up from the ground beside him. The glistening emerald embedded tastefully within its golden hilt gleamed in the soft fire light and nearly matched his distant eyes."
It will be playing a larger role farther along and it carries a huge amount of symbolism throughout.

My request is for this scene to be captured by your skilled hand. When I'm finished with this story, I plan on sending it to a pay-to-publish site and ordering it in book form (I do it just to have them on my shelf ). I would absolutely love something I could use as the book's cover. Something that captures the fragile essence that is Lokane in a way that words cannot.

Even if my request doesn't interest you, thanks so much for hearing it out! It means a lot.

I've never really considered this pairing. It's an interesting concept and I think you did a great job on it.

As for the picture itself, I think you did a great job on the likeness of both Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman. As always the flow of the hair, clothing folds and general attention to detail is spot on and I agree with others who say the shading on the skin and fabric is amazing. Finally I think you did a great job of conveying the passion and emotion of the moment. Brilliant work as always

CMBaggs In reply to pawcanada [2014-01-27 04:23:18 +0000 UTC]

It's a total crack pairing that has 0 basis in canon as far as I know... but... I dunno. With the changes that they've made to both characters in the movie verse, I can't help but find the possibility just beautiful. A studious sorcerer and a science nerd? Cute! That and, if Jane ends up with Loki, then Thor can go with Sif. And then they can all make beautiful babies. I know. It's too neat a solution, but I can dream.

And thank you for the compliment on the technical points. It was a pleasure.

I know Loki had a lover in the original myth (other than the horse that impregnated him ) but I have no idea if Marvel has adapted her or not. Personally I'd love to see them adapt Thor's friendly rival Hercules in the next film (particularly if Thor were to get banished again and need assistance) and the two could fight for Jane's affections for a while. I'm a big fan of Marvel's Hercules and personally rate "Incredible Hercules" as one of my favourite comic series from the last ten or so years. A wonderful blend of wonderful character growth, great comedy, amazing art (particularly during the Thorcules storyline; I need to dig out my issues to see who the artist was) and some good plotlines. It's a shame it's sequel series didn't take off or have the same magic.

Tangent aside I can see what you mean, opposites attract and all that. And I do feel quite sorry for Sif in the film. Perhaps they need to bring in her sometimes love interest Beta Ray Bill...

And as always, no problem

CMBaggs In reply to pawcanada [2014-01-28 02:32:32 +0000 UTC]

Didn't Sif and Thor get married in the comics? And I know that they were married in myth.

Do NOT get me started on Loki in myth. That god was HILARIOUS. Google the Norse Crises Flow Chart and get ready for some "damn that's truth" lulz. Still, his wife was Sigyn. The whole Sigyn angle and her devotion to the God of "Antagonize EVERYTHING" is actually sort of refreshing in this day in age when people are so eager to get a divorced over the slightest little thing. If everyone looked to Goddess Sigyn and her utterly infailable fidelity as a model I think the sanctity of marriage would still have some clout. As it is, I try to invoke her when my husband drives me nuts. Ah ha. Boom boom TISH!

But seriously. Did you just sayt Thorcules? And who the hell is Beta Ray Bill? I don't like him. He throws a wrench in my perfect plans of beautiful Asgardian babies...

pawcanada In reply to CMBaggs [2014-01-28 22:54:52 +0000 UTC]

I'm not 100% sure as I've only been following Thor since the 2007 re-launch. I know there's one plotline where Thor became drunk with power, enslaved Earth and fathered a son with someone. There was a publication company who used to re-publish American comics about two/three years later in the UK bar Thor (and Iron Man) who were about ten years behind. They were leading up to that storyline but then skipped to the aforementioned relaunch, so I ended up dropping it. I need to track down the trades as I'm curious to actually read it.

I do love the way Marvel and DC portray the old Gods (the current run on Wonder Woman, which deals heavily in Greek myth is easily one of the best DC are doing at the moment), but I do need to go to the "source material" to get the pure version. And what you said about Sigyn reminds me of something my mum once said about how her generation was raised to deal with a problem rather than just run away. My dad was no saint and I look back now and realise how hard his job pushed him and how it strained his marriage with my mum, but at the same time I know they would always try and work things out rather than just end it and run away. I hope when I get married to follow the same philosophy and Sigyn's example; I agree it seems too many marriages seem to end over something small and while I don't support being with someone for the sake of it, I do also feel people need to think things through before they commit.

And yes, yes I did
25.media.tumblr.com/71fcad554d…
dcomixologyssl.sslcs.cdngc.net…
www.bewareofmagpies.net/wp-con…
Even just a Google search reminded me of how much fun that storyline was.

Beta Ray Bill is a member of an alien race and one of the few deemed worthy of lifting Mjölnir and a "Thor variant", similar to how War Machine is an Iron Man variant . I've not read much with him in but I did generally like what I saw. I think he and Sif have an on-again-off-again relationship so I think your plan is safe

Still, I have to say, I'm glad that your mom and dad set such a wonderful example for you in terms of what a marriage really is.

It's fine, I got a little carried away

For a long time I thought marriage was some perfect fantasy where everything works out happily ever after, which is why I wanted it "like a drowning man wants air" (to borrow an old instructor's motivational quote). I never realised some of the more difficult aspects of it until I took off the rose tinted glasses.

CMBaggs In reply to pawcanada [2014-01-30 23:45:27 +0000 UTC]

Totally fine. I love geeking out. I just wish I could keep up properly.

LOL!!! Well, it can be a happily ever after... so long as you're willing to work at it. You don't get married for you... you get married for the other person.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pawcanada In reply to CMBaggs [2014-01-31 00:00:45 +0000 UTC]

It's fine; we all have our "geeky strengths"

To be honest that's part of the reason why I'm single at the moment; in my last serious relationship I realised quite quickly how smitten she was with me, but I was still a little hung up on the person I had previously had a thing with. I also quickly realised she really wasn't my type and while I COULD have stayed with her and things would have potentially gotten very serious between us quite quickly, I also knew if I stayed with her it would purely be so I wasn't single. Sadly of the women I've dated since, I've either not felt that spark between us or on the few occasions when I did, the attitude I presented myself with (in one incidence I was too laid back/relaxed/"I want to party hard! WOOOO!", and generally not really focused or driven where as she was a single mum) repelled them. So while I may not like being single now, I'd rather wait for the right person instead of just rushing into something with someone just to end my relationship-less status.

CMBaggs In reply to pawcanada [2014-01-31 03:12:49 +0000 UTC]

LOL, isn't that the honest to goodness truth?

Oh god yes... You know, the only person you can be is yourself. I have this one friend (a single one coincidently) who is in a constant revolving door of relationships. She's never single enough to know who SHE is. How can you find someone to build a life with if you don't know WHO you are?

So that you've been so honest with yourself and with other women is a VERY good thing, Pete. A very good thing. I think that so long as you stay true to you, you'll find her. It's only a matter of time if you want it. I mean, if you were REALLY interested in the single mum mentioned above, I think you would have reined it in a bit.

pawcanada In reply to CMBaggs [2014-02-01 14:26:24 +0000 UTC]

That sounds like an ex of mine; always hopping from one man to the next and never really happy when she was with one or stay single long enough to accept who she was. She even told me how she'd meet and start to fancy one man just as she was about to end a relationship with another (which surprise, surprise, happened to me as well).

I should mention I met the single mum through a dating site as opposed to meeting her through friends or a random encounter. I was quite smitten with her, which is why I was dissapointed when it didn't pan out. And honestly I didn't really know who I was back then, which is why I think I portrayed myself in a too laid back/relaxed/"I want to party hard! WOOOO!"/not really focused sense. In retrospect it was a personality I used to try and get people to like me, instead of coming across as who I really am. Thankfully this was short lived as I am much more comfortable in my own skin and allowed my "true" personality to show through. If I were to meet her or someone similar again, I know I'd handle myself in a much better fashion. Frankly it's only been since I moved out of my mum's a few years back that I really started to grow and mature as a person, as well as becoming comfortable in my own skin.

CMBaggs In reply to pawcanada [2014-02-04 14:48:15 +0000 UTC]

I think that's a normal part of life, and the reason why it's so important to leave the nest as soon as we're able to do so. It allows us to fully mature. I mean, I know that parents don't necessarily stifle our self discovery... but it seems almost as though growing up has some unfinished business that only gets resolved once we move out and must rely on ourselves.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pawcanada In reply to CMBaggs [2014-02-04 21:36:59 +0000 UTC]

I think the key word there is "as soon as we're able to". I could have moved out of my mum's house before or after university but due to how grief struck we were (my dad died between my first and second uni year and I soldiered on and completed the remainder of my degree despite my grief) decided to move back in with her. Admittedly I also struggled to get a job for the first year or so, so I doubt I could have gotten my own place anyway.

And I agree with you. If anything I feel my relationship with my mum has greatly improved now that I've found my own independence, and as you pointed out, I also matured more as an adult once I had to rely on myself.

welcome to fangirling world, Chris!!!

so, you ship Loki/ Jane? correct me if I'm wrong... but are we talking about Thor's Jane here? (that's why there is "Science" in the title?)

the artwork itself is splendid, Chris.
I certainly can feel warm and tender feeling from this whole love-making. also I must praise your ability for managed to draw Loki this tender but... still Loki, you know what I mean? maybe outfit around the female's shoulder can be more loose, so her overall appearance can be more sexy/ seductive. and I think her wrist is a little bit too small. also can I mention that Loki's muscle is looking really good? you really have a talent on drawing muscle, my friend

last but ot least, obviously I don't mind to see my OC couple in this atmosphere...

good job!
