Description
Keeping things simple, background and idea, most of the surface is done in large brushstrokes, around 500px - 1000px, which was funny because my computer started to lag badly and I think that helped contribute to some of the roughness and texture of being out in the snow.

I went in feeling more or less like I knew what I wanted to illustrate: Some artifact of some kind buried in the snow with the direction coming from one end and someone 'discovering' it on the other. Originally I thought it'd be fantasy but as I started sketching out the thumbnail I had this thought of some kind of ancient mech-hand that was buried, not just in snow but in the very mountain, and all these wayward adventures would find is a few fingers popping out in the blizzard. The forms are very simple, again most of it is just rough brushstrokes covering stuff, which gave me time to noodle about detailing a few small parts to help sell the story.

The explorers came prepared, although I don't know if those 10 millimeter explosive-tip caseless light armor piercing rounds are gonna do much against that behemoth
