Blending modes carry this so hard, there's a ton of soft light, overlay, color dodge, and linear dodge that helps generate the atmosphere and lighting as well as hide the horrible brush strokes. In the end I guess it's alright though, I like the feel of it overall and I found a fun way to both build the central luminosity and push the background back more in the same layer, basically just going closer to mid-range tones but dropping a gradient of the jewel's color in the middle and then grabbing some of the brown/grays and doing gradients along the edge of the piece except for the top right, helps give a more enclosed feeling towards the light source. I think... I hope? haha
