I originally was gonna do something far more complex but just as I started I figured that it would be a mess and I'd take the easy way out. What better mythological metaphor than a phoenix?

Symmetry brush laid everything down early, I had a pretty set idea of what I wanted: A phoenix with its wings stretched up towards the heavans with its bones being formed and visible within its body as it explodes out of its egg. The pacing of it was pretty brisk, I got the general form down within a couple minutes and after that it was mainly noodling with patterns and going into color.

There's a little asymmetry going on here and there, the symmetrical parts are for expediency and with that extra time I buy back I can noodle around with colors and ways to offset parts of the piece here and there to help sell the idea as a whole. I had a couple extra minutes so I wanted to add in some goopy bits inside the egg shell, almost like the inner sanctuary is filled with lava or molten metal, and that's what the phoenix incubates in while it reforms itself before emerging once again.
