Franklin attended a science fiction convention. Many guests were giving lectures in various rooms but Franklin's main interest was the exhibit halls. It was full of props from popular movies and TV shows that were replicas or the actual item. He recognized most of them but there was one peculiar object in the center of the largest exhibit hall that looked ordinary, yet was far from it.

It was a desk, empty except for a personal computer complete with keyboard, and mouse. What made it peculiar was the way the crowd behaved when they were near it. They gave the desk a wide berth and appeared completely unaware of doing this. They acted like the desk and computer did not even exist.

Out of curiosity, Franklin approached the computer. On the screen was some of his personal information like name, sex, age, sexuality, appearance, and personality. The final line was for additional information where it said multidimensional awareness. He guessed this was why he could see the computers while the others could not.

Franklin walked up to the computer and clicked the mouse on the line that said name. The name changed from Franklin to Francesca. Francesca wondered why he had a girl's name. He clicked on the line that said sex and it changed from male to female.

Francesca's hair grew longer. Facial and body hair disappeared. His breasts grew out while his body became slightly smaller and more curvaceous. His hair grew down to his shoulders. Finally his genitals changed making him, or her, completely female.

At this point, Francesca became aware that she could use the computer to make alterations to her body. She noticed the sexuality line which once said heterosexual had become blank. This was probably because she was unsure about her sexuality herself.

Francesca considered just typing heterosexual back in but this did not seem quite right. Then she considered lesbian but that did not seem quite right either. Finally she went down the middle and typed in bisexual. Thoughts about both boys and girls started flowing through her mind.

Next Francesa looked at age and changed it from 25 to 18. She remembered having been 18 ever since her birthday. The convention was one of her last moments of freedom. Afterwards she would be headed to college. She tweaked some of the appearance information such as height, weight, hair color, and eye color to give herself her ideal appearance. Each time she made a change she forgot all about making it.

As far as personality was concerned, Francesa wanted to be less shy and more outgoing so she changed her information accordingly. Finally came the line for additional information. As soon as she clicked on the line, the words multidimensional awareness disappeared. Francesca was no longer aware of the existence of the computer just like everyone else. She got up, avoided the desk with the computer on it, and joined the crowd.

Ignored by everyone else, the computer started running and the information disappeared from the screen. The data had been filed.
