Storm was a first year student at Magic Academy. Although he excelled at spell casting and knew far more spells than any other first year student, it did not protect him from the upperclassmen. They constantly made fun of him and casted spells against him that even he could not counter. He wanted it to stop!

Storm reasoned that if he was no longer a first year student the bullying would stop. At the magic library, he looked up information on aging potions. He said he was researching it for a school project which was true but he was also planning to create an aging potion for himself. It was potentially dangerous and difficult for a first year student to make, but he thought it would be more dangerous to do nothing and just let the bullying continue. As for the difficulty, he had made more difficult potions than that before so he knew he could do it.

It did not take long to gather all the ingredients together. Storm carefully measured the ingredients as instructed so he would become one year older and one minute younger. The potion gave off multicolored smoke and it stank but that just meant he made it correctly. Storm drank it quickly, certain that he would become a second year student and the bullying would end.

The potion did far more than expected. All of reality began to blur and change. Even his memories changed to fit the new reality. Storm found herself to be a girl who was one year older and one minute younger than she had been before. Even though her book was opened to the page containing the aging potion and there was an empty potion bottle, Storm did not see the connection. All she could remember was she was researching aging potions for a school project.

Because reality had been altered, students and teachers alike treated Storm as if she had always been a girl. She did not receive any clues about her past from them. No more bullying occurred that week because she had not done anything to call attention to herself ... yet. When she went to her first year class, she got her first clue that something was not quite right. All of them reminded her that she was a second year student and needed to go to a different classroom. The teacher saw it as a common occurrence even though it did not usually happen that late in the year.

Storm wondered what had happened. Her first guess was some sort of memory loss. Then she remembered the aging potion she had been researching. She guessed she actually tried it out for some reason and then something went wrong. The next potion she researched was a memory restoration potion. No school project was due, but she needed to satisfy her own curiosity.

It was easier than the aging potion so she had no problem making it. Soon after drinking the memory restoration potion, Storm remembered being a first year boy who had been frequently bullied. She was not sure why the aging potion had caused her to change gender too but it did keep the bullies away. Storm considered both the ethics and the danger of getting back at the bullies while they were not paying attention to her. Knowing it could get her in trouble with the school, not to mention the bullies themself, she decided against it. She would not cast spells on the bullies, at least not without planning things well in advance.
