Anna touched the recording unit, the red light blinked on, and for half a heartbeat she considered telling the truth. Then her finger snapped the video recorder off.
‘Alice, please set for audio record mode only.’

‘Acknowledged.’ The outposts AI chirped in its computerized feminine voice.

Anna had hated that voice, but after the first month, she had come to cherish listening to every word the computer had to say.

‘Begin.’

The light flicked on again.

‘Hello… My name is Anna Shalinko, chief botanist of the Star Fire expedition. And… survivor of the events that took place ninety five day cycles ago.’

‘There have been some, changes…I need, feel the need, to record and document. The chief and foremost being exposure to the plants atmosphere, and the subsequent events that I mentioned in my past log entry.’

‘That long being over thirty cycles ago, there’s a lot to catch up on. I admit I am hesitant to mention, or even record half of what has transpired sense then. And not a night has gone by that I don’t think about ordering Alice to purge all existing logs.’

‘After exposure, there have been several extensive physical changes undergone. Rapid hair growth first and foremost. I have given up trying to shave my legs, and as there is no one her to witness I don’t feel guilty about that.’

‘Other effects include heightened senses, stomach cramps, headaches, and several other unpleasant effects.’

‘I…I-‘ Anna’s hand snapped down with more force than she had intended, stopping the recording and sending the device skittering across the floor. Wearily, she curled in on herself.

‘Damn it.’
