Stepping out of the changing room Amenii smiled up at Nera, who for once was speechless as she drank in her figure.
‘So you like it?’

‘No.’ Nera replied rather grim faced, as a corner of her mouth curled into a smile. ‘I love it.’

Strong hands slipped under her arms and a second later Amenii found herself being lifted onto Nera’s shoulders as the hyena made for the water front at full charge.

‘You may want to hold on!’ Nera cried as she ran down the short pier leading off to the clear blue waters below. Suppressing a scream as Nera gave a final bound that carried them into the air, Amenii drew in a sharp breath only to let it out in a shriek as her lover suddenly threw her like a football at the height of her ark.

Screaming her protests as she flew up and slowly back down to the waters below Amenii’s heart skipped a beat. This was their first official test of the new legs Mr. Ubie had designed for her and their weight coupled with their buoyancy had never been established. The water raced up to greet her and with a splash she began to flail about as she slipped below the surface. An old fear of crept back over her as she remembered the first time Nera had taken her to this very same beach. That was when she had not even been fitted for prosthetics and she had nearly drowned.

This time as the water closed over her head firm hands grasped her and lifted her back up to the surface. Sputtering Amenii knew she should be mad, but the relief she felt in Nera’s arms outweighed any anger she may have borne her lover.

‘I suppose you think that was rather funny.’ Amenii folded her arms looking up at Nera with the best straight face she could muster. That was a little difficult seeing how Nera’s dreadlocks had come loose and not hung over her face like a wet octopus. Which Amenii was more than happy to point out to her.

‘Oh really.’ Nera’s face half hidden split into a grin.

‘Don’t even think about it!’ Amenii made to ward her off. ‘Aaaaahhh! Nera! Get off me!’
