By eating all the ice cream.

Nera came down the stairs rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She had been awoken by the clicking of the fridge and the soft patter of feet. Finding her bed empty she had sought out her companion downstairs and found her in the kitchen, a bin of ice cream in hand.
Spoon in her mouth Amenii cast an inquisitive look up at her.

‘What, I’m coping?’

Nera snorted, looking over her lover. Yes she was in her own way coping. By eating ice cream directly out of the tub while in her underwear. In the dead of night. She thought about mouthing that last part off but settled on a more diplomatic route instead.

‘Let me guess, your pregnant?’

Amenii’s eyes narrowed as the spoon twitched in her mouth.

‘Not funny.’ She leered in the darkness. ‘And No. I am not.’

Nera could tell something was bothering her just by her tone of voice. It had always been a running joke between them, if Amenii’s eating habits ever shifted out of their normal range, Nera would always pop the question just to get a rise out of her. That their joke now seemed to have irritated her was evidence enough that something was amiss.

Marching over to the kitchen table she spun a chain around and mounted it backwards, letting her chest rest on the back with arms draped over casually relaxed.

‘So, are you going to eat all that by yourself?’

Amenii taking the cue cracked a half smile.

‘Am I that obvious.’

‘Yup.’

‘Fine.’

The rest of the night was devoted to talk, and ice cream. It took half the container to before Nera managed to extract what was bothering her bunny out of her. And another third before they were able to resolve the issue.

Scraping the last of the ice cream out of the bin, Nera let Amenii have the last spoon full.

‘Well, I guess that settles that.’ Looking down at the bin she shook her head.

‘Thanks for listening.’ Amenii added softly, somewhere during the conversation Nera had picked her up and transferred her to her lap. It was a comfort as her lovers massive hand moved down her back only to come back up and ruffle her head fur. She loved when Nera did that too.

‘Always.’ Nera responded, taking the empty bind and placing it on the table. Then with a casual shake of her head added. ‘We need to find a less destructive way to have these little talks.’

Amenii only laughed, as she let Nera cradle her in her massive arms and take her back up to bed.
