Description Like a Saber Tooth Cat, but way cooler. I admit I took some creative liberties, with the anatomy, but I tried to stay quasi true to the mammals design. The smooth head, the sloping brow, not sharp like a cats, but very lightly angled with massive protruding fangs. The chin seems to a little bit debatable, if it were double forked, or single? I would go with single design here.

This little piece I dedicate to, Who inspired this lovely prehistoric lady.

Pounces, and using her full body weight lands on top of you in a crude attempt to smother you. You can tell she's not really trying though, the purring gives it away.

Pressing her nose within half a centimeater of your face she draws in a deep breath, nose twitching. 'And who...arrre you?' she purrs.

The clear lack of personal space knowledge puts him in a kind of edge **purrs** hears the question **cough cough! Um.. Me? My name is Pyetr** gives one step back

Taking two steps forward, she closes the distance even more. 'Pyetr...' She cocks her head, 'And what is Pyetr doing here?'

Is the line along her belly her pouch?  If I recall correctly, the thylacosmilus was a marsupial version of the smilodon.  Also, if it IS her pouch, is this just a guess as to what it looked like?  I know that the thylacine and the Tasmanian Devil both have/had pouches that faced their hips rather than their ribs.  But, it's believed that was because they are digging carnivores and evolution didn't want dirt getting into the pouch and possibly harming the joeys.

Ah, that would be her belly button line.

That would make sense, you really don't want dirt and other debris falling into your pouch.

So, it's the same as the line that appears when someone does enough crunches the define his/her abs.  Cool.

I had a theory about anthro marsupials such as the thylacine.  I suggested that when they evolve in to bipedals, a second slightly smaller pouch evolves to hold the joey until it's big enough to stay inside the larger pouch without falling out.

Really, this would certainly be a unique evolutionary asset. A side pouch though would make me wonder how the joey stays in the pouch.

Oops.  I should have been more detailed.  I meant to include that, since the larger pouch faces downward, toward the hips, the internal pouch faces upward, toward the chest, to hold the joey.  There would also be two sets of teats.  One inside the internal pouch which would be of a higher fat content to assist in the growth of the joey and a second set outside the internal pouch would would have a higher protein content to assist in the muscle development of the joey.

I think I follow now, that would be quite the evolutionary asset for young, my only concern would be for said young getting to this pouch aftwr birth.

Actually, I would think it would be easier for a thylacine's joey than a kangaroo's joey.  After all, the opening to the pouch would be a lot closer to the birth canal.  The joey would enter the pouch opening at the hips, crawl up the interior of the pouch to the interior pouch, enter it and latch onto the nipple in the interior pouch.  The sphincter muscle that closes the pouch would, actually, hold the joey inside the pouch and, therefore, protect it until it reached the interior pouch.  (Yes, I've thought about this for a while.  LOL.)

So you have, very good - this is quite the design you have thought up. I confess when I first read over this proposed pouch I worried about the baby smothering in the secondary internal pouch. I was not aware about the sphincter muscle quadrant could do that, and to this date had always assumed it was a passive muscle.

MviluUatusun In reply to Code-Shark [2017-06-29 01:01:18 +0000 UTC]

Well, I studied the pouch of the kangaroos and noticed that the opening was more round than slit.  As a result of this, I assumed it was closed with a sphincter muscle.  If the pouch of the thylacine was closed in the same manner, it would make sense to me.

Might I suggest a shorter neck? Something more along feline lines.

Code-Shark In reply to JKnight97 [2017-05-31 05:48:36 +0000 UTC]

A shorter neck... Hmmmm. I can try, the biggest issue there being her elongated face combined with the large chin makes that sort of difficult. I suffered the same problem with Nera...

But, if you would like, I can introduce her to you?

JKnight97 In reply to Code-Shark [2017-05-31 05:59:26 +0000 UTC]

Just an observation also. If you look at the Zootopia tigers, their necks are not as long and the face a little bit rounded rather than elongated.

I noted that, for the longest of time I thought this was a style choice. I guess it's sort of my personal style, I suffer from a terrible - Modona of the long neck syndrome. As is apparent in my earlier work with gazelles. I will try and do some neck adjustments for the next piece though. The one after this last one - as during this time I have already cranked out another piece, this time focusing on the chin.

How much would you suggest shortening the neck by? (One third maybe?)

Yes and give her a rounder face that way she looks more feline than dromedary.

Can do, shorter neck, rounder face.

Sirse might get jealous.

Which leads me to the next question: some of the stories are beginning to overlap in the JP timeline. Where do we start to tie them together?

Code-Shark In reply to JKnight97 [2017-05-31 06:04:34 +0000 UTC]

Very jealous, but seeing how your relationship is beginning to evolve with Sirse, it may be time to start training a new Vanguard.

Ah, Time line wise, I was hoping to tie them up shortly, aka, within the next few segments on the story. Lets see, We have three points that need to be concluded:

Sirse and you in the control room, you need to get down to the tour car - and then this time line shifts. (End)

The tour trip, this is more of a relaxing moment, hopefully, this will eventually deposit you at the gas powered jeep, - (End)

And then on to the current (Last Time line) - Get to the dilophosaurus cage, and then go for the docks. Hope you make it...

I still have to write about getting away from the T-Rex as that's a fourth yet. Plus we still need to expound on the responsibilities of a Vanguard, or do we close that chapter, continue the conversation in the dilophosaurus dock or after we get away to the extraction point? Still wish I had my faithful mini-gravitron gun that I stole from Starman to take care of the big reptile chasing us.

Code-Shark In reply to JKnight97 [2017-05-31 06:30:37 +0000 UTC]

Ah, A fourth tear to add to the story, the plot thickens.

I would suggest trying to keep it as localized as possible for now, but, I do tend to keep characters moving as in the world while talking. It tends to prevent the arc from slowing down. Should it trail on the the tour, and or the extraction to the docks.

Ah Gravitron guns, good times. And this is the particular reason I frown upon unleashing individuals with any sort of weaponry, advanced or otherwise, it just makes life way to easy. ;D

Nooo..... I wanted to be friends, welp I guess we have to do this the hard way. *I take out a tranq dart a got from a certin place and I shoot it right in her hip.* Barry pick her up and get her on the ship will ya? We're gonna need the neural translator as well. And just put her in a cell, no need to be harsh.

Eyes snap to the drat, then to you. Her hand blurs to her hip and in a flash the dart is out and flying back in your direction in alarming speed. As it impacts your chest, she gives you a savage grin of satisfaction.

Oh! OH! BITCH! *I pluck the dart out of my plate carrier* its called a plate carrier mam, and not even a .50 call can get throught, it would still hurt -- alot. I tried to be nice ok, but now I'm just gonna have to taze you and sieze your muscles up so you can't even move. *I pull the tazer out of the cross draw holster* here kitty, kitty. It's time to go to sleep. *the grin on my face widens as Barry comes out of the side of the shop with a .50 call turet on it.*

Spinning on the spot the Thylacosmilus vanishes into the underbrush, stalks waver as she bolts into the dense foliage, and she is gone. A warning growl comes from the bushes that could come from anywhere, a primordial challenge. 'Come get me...'

Moving deeper into the undergrowth she waits for her prey to come to her. Even with the toxins running through her veins she was still alert enough to handle this single ape. Tongue flicking out, she prepares herself for a hunt.

*i put my tazer back in my holster, a look of fear on my face as i do so. I then flick a visor down on my helmet and pull up my .458 rifle up to my chest, i smirk goes across my face. this smirk is one of laughter, because i'm the one going for a hunt now.  i scan around me until a ping goes of on in my ears, i see her body heat through my scanner. i shoulder my rifle and fire, the bullet landing inches away from her head. the giant bullet creating a crater in the soft earth.* Next on is going in your head if you don't come out!
