Description
Sunlight streamed down from the canopy overhead, a fine mist had settled over the earthen floor muffling Sirse's footsteps. It was better that way, though it cut her visibility, it also muffled her movements and dampened her sent. the last thing she needed now was for her protector's sent to attract unwanted scavengers. What had he been thinking, trying to go toe to toe with the king of all predators on the island. Outwardly she shook her head as she used her claws to slice another leaf from a low growing bush. Inwardly, she was grateful for his crazed act of courage.
'Your going to be the death of me.' He had a habit of saying. Hoping that this was not going to be the case, she worked another leaf free, that would be enough. She had to keep him cool until the fever passed, and when she had left him his body had been in bad shape, his chest barely rising, as though the very effort of breath was to much. Heart rate was all wrong, and he could no longer seem to see her near the end.
It had been a chancy run to dart back across the road to the with the rex so close. The kit had been mounted at chest level, and it had taken all her strength to pry it out of its damaged frame. Lugging it back she was almost sure the massive dinosaur had seen her, but had not given chase as she threw herself into the underbrush. The thought of the chase still made her heart pick up a beat.
It had pained her to leave his side, but she knew if she left him in the sun to bake, the sent would attract any predators still lingering in the area. Crinkling her nose at the pungent odor of the fronds in her arms, she returned to where she had left him, hoping the anti-venom she had injected into his system had not been to late.

I glance quickly at my lovely companion and then quickly avert my eyes while trying not to blush. "I remember the TRex, the crash, carrying you on my back to the control room and...you having clothes on. Although the view is magnificent, momma raised a gentlemammal."
I look about me in wonder. "How did we end up outside in the jungle?"
What I left unasked was How were you able to move a 400 lb bear all by yourself?

Casting a glance down at her figure, clothes had been very low on her priority list. That coupled with the heat soaked humility from the jungle she had secretly relished the idea of slipping into her natural skin, and letting her fur breath. Crossing her legs she adjusts a few of the fronds to cover offer some modesty while she explains. Wrist before her she begins to click her story away.
'I want you to think back, very carefully to the crash.'
Leaves in hand Sirse moves to your side trying to position herself to be on par with your head. The sloping terrain that you are propped up against makes it a difficult task. With a weary sigh of resignation, she abandons one of her fronds, to free her hand to communicate.
'Do not panic.'
Abandoning the leaves, she grasps the scruff of your neck fur, pulls herself up as to straddle the base of your neck. The position is awkward, but it allows her to be at eyes level with you. Light fingers brush over your cheeks as Sirse secures herself to you, her hazel eyes burning brightly, as she looks into your own. Very carefully she places her spread fingers over your brows, almost to cup your face in her tiny hands. Drawing in a deep breath Sirse closes her eyes, and a tingling electric current moves over through her body, spreading down her arms and out through her fingers.
'Now, I want you to remember.' It takes you a moment to relize that the voice is not coming from the ear piece, nor is Sirse's lips moving. 'Start from the moment you saw the rex.'
As you recite the longer version of the story, you pause to draw in breath.
'Stop. Right there, that moment. What do you notice?'
Sirse had stopped you just as you were explaining jumping from the jeep, and rolling into the underbrush. The more you think on it, there is a brief gap there, a few seconds where the world seems a mix of foliage, emotions, and sensations. But the memory is blurred, the more you try to focus on it, the more elusive the details become.

I frown as the memories seem elusive. But then, something else tugs at the edge of my mind. Logic.
I sigh but curl my arm around her bringing her closer to me, not wanting to let her go, fearful of losing her to those monsters. "My mind is a bit foggy after I jumped from the jeep and this brings about two possibilities. One, I hit my head as I rolled and I just imagined dragging you back into the control room and I've been laying here for some time while you cared for me. Two, I didn't imagine it, I blacked out in the control room, you suddenly gained the strength of an elephant to carry me out here and then you deliberately hit me on the head to hide the fact that you have supernatural strength plus you were angry at me for pulling a stupid stunt like charging the TRex with just a jeep." I grin at her as I recline my head back, allowing the cool leaf to assuage my fever.
"Either way, I don't care. You're safe and that's all that matters." as I give her an Eskimo kiss on her nose, chuckling at my audacity. I press on.
"I felt you. In here," tapping my chest above my heart. "I felt your terror, your fear. I had to do something. If I had lost you, I would have lost a very important part of myself. I beg your forgiveness if you're angry with me. But if the opportunity presented itself again, I would repeat my actions if it meant that you'd be safe."

Sirse's hand moved down to touch your heart, her eyes close and a familiar warmth ripples from her fingers, soothing, comforting, slowing the lingering adrenalin still present in your system. Eyes opening she looks up at you and cups your face, hands running over your cheeks, little fingers gigging in deep to press the muscles.
'I know you will.' She clicks, 'Just don't make a habit of it.'
Leaving the rest unsaid, she wondered if he would ever ask. Maybe it was for the best, if he put it out of mind she would not have to...fix what she had done.
Eager to change the conversation, Sirse gives you a serious look.
'How do you feel?' She touches your arm. 'I did my best, but when you rolled you opened it rather badly. I ran out of bandages and had to improvise.'
In the same motion she moves a hand down her body.
'Sorry about your shirt.'

Only then did I realize that I was bear (pun intended) naked to my waist. I chuckle at my situation. "That's all right, mon petit cheri, I don't mind as long it was you that did it and not those monsters," shaking with laughter as I did even though it hurt to. "I'd rather have your claws in me than them," elated, as the realization we were still both alive, hit me. The relief was short-lived as I realized I did not know how much time had passed since we had arrived. I knew we had a 36-hour deadline to meet.
After I had calmed down, I asked, "Where you able to find the shaving can? And how much time do we have left before the extraction?"

'About that...' Something in Sirse's voice tells you that something is very very wrong. 'After you passed out, the venom, it was begining its final stages. You were also bleeding from your arm and head. I didn't dare leave your side, not in your condition.'
Giving your arm a squeeze as to try and reassure you. It's good that you are sitting down.
'That was fourteen hours ago.'

My mind whirls. Fourteen hours! Less than twenty four hours till we either found that blasted shaving can or else Sirse would be punished severely by CS and we would not be allowed to work together anymore. But Arie would be safe from those who wanted to experiment on her or lock her away. Or, Sirse and I would find the can to make CS happy but unleash more dinasours into our world and I would lose Arie forever.
Then, more and more questions start to float to the top, not unlike flotsam from a sunken ship. How had Sirse managed to speak to me when both her paws were on my head? She could not have been texting me. And, she has not answered how I was able to feel her terror even though we were physically apart.
I knew I was between a rock and a hard place and my pact with the devil known as John Black was becoming more and more distasteful. I felt the tendrils of a panic attack approaching. I regret having made the promise but I had no choice at the time. If Black was here right now, I would spit in his face...spit...Spit! That's it!
I start laughing, not out of mirth, but of relief. Sirse looks at me and probably thinks I'm going insane as I must have been a sight. I hear her voice in my ear. "Do I have to knock you out with a tranquilizer? If you are going insane, I have no choice." she says rather sadly, thinking my time has come.
I merely grin at her and at the same time, I know I must come clean with her if we are to make it out alive and still attain both our objectives.
"I'm not insane but what would you say to a bit of dinosaur hunting?" I grin at her as I formulate my plan for the next step.

The look Sirse fixes you with is one that doctors reserve for the high class mentally unstable. Though the look passes behind her mask quickly enough, the image still lingers. Ever so subtly she shifts her body weight to her left, where the medical kit resides, there carefully laid out are several syringes.
Gauging the distance, she did not like the odds. She could jump for the tranquilizer, the one on the far right closest to her, she may even be able to stick the needle through his fur before he could react. But that would be it, Sirse knew her limits. She was fast, but not that fast, and when he realized what she had done it would be all too easy for him to close one of those massive paws over her neck. He needn’t even try and go for her neck, a casual embrace in those massive arms and he could snap her spine before she even had a chance to react.
Mouth dry she licked her lips, she had seen this before in those unused to traveling through rifts to another world. Some beings progressively went mad as their brains tried to rationalize what was happening, sudden and violent outbursts were, sadly, not uncommon.
Instead, Sirse drew in her breath, held it to steady her now racing heart, and let it out again. Choosing her words carefully she clicked on her wrist.
‘If you are going to plea sanity, it is better to start with: ‘This is going to sound crazy’ as it is a universal sign that you still retain some small semblance of sanity and can admit it. Those who claim directly that ‘I am not crazy!’ tend to be experiencing mental instability.’
Letting that sink in for a moment, she closes her eyes as though willing you to come to your senses.
‘And the idea of going on a dinosaur hunt is nothing short of insane.’ What was she supposed to tell him, that the five shot guns he had seen in the veterinary ward were five of ten that existed on the whole island? And that, with non-centralized nerve systems it would take a lot of damage to bring down even the most basic of dinosaur here. It was madness. Or, it was the medication talking.
She had had to make an educated guess at the dosage as the anti-venom had been designed for a human body. Erring on the side of caution she had upped the dosage to compensate, that coupled with the pain killers, Sirse was surprised he was able to function. Keep him talking, keep him calm.
Clicking on her wrist again, Sirse set her own plan into motion.
‘Tell me more of your plan.’

I smile at her but a flash of sorrow appears in my eyes. "Mon petit cheri, don't do that. Don't be condescending. I am not crazy. I have a plan. If you enter my mind, as I know you can, you will see what it is. But if you really believe that I am out of my mind, I will not stop you. In fact, I will help you."
I release her so that I reach over to the medical kit and pick up all the syringes. I hold them up to my neck and prepare to stab myself but I take one more look at her. "I am a desperate bear and if I take no action, I will lose two of the things I love the most. You and Arie. But I need your complete trust in what I plan to do. If I divulge to you my agreement with your brother, I take the chance you will be very angry with me so much so that you will hate me and I will never see you again. But not saying anything means that I betray the trust you place in me. In order for the plan to work, means we need to trust one another. And if I don't have yours, then I might as well put myself out of my misery and let Morpheus take me."
Not seeing any reaction from her, I close, my eyes, a tear leaking from them, and raise my paw to plunge the needles into my neck.

What was he talking about? For a second nothing seemed to register, had he lost his mind in that fraction of a second? Panic drove all thoughts from her head as she watched him in transfixed horror as he scooped up the needles and, before she could stop him plunged them into his neck.
Mouth open in a silent scream, Sirse lunged forwards, paws grab at your hand as she frantically tries to pull the needles from your neck. Terror welled up within her, terror that when beyond words, and in a fraction of a second she made her decision.
Ripping the black teardrop from around her neck she cast the gem aside.
And a world of emotion explodes around you, Sirse’s hazel eyes burn with an intensity of the like you have never seen before as her voice booms in your ears.
‘Stop!’
With the command comes an overpowering compulsion to obey. Mental claws dig into your mind, searing white with rage. Then with lesser intensity, and a touch of sorrow, the voice adds.
‘Please.’
Breathing heavily, you notice Sirse’s lips have never moved, though now she lists to one side, a faint trickle of blood drips from one nostril. Hands shaking, she reaches out and tries to pry the syringes from your flesh, tears suddenly welling in her eyes.

Suddenly my mind opens to her. She sees the pact I have reached with her brother. She feels my emotional turmoil in having to choose between the two mammals I love dearly. She hears my heart beating its love cacophony for her and the pain of her not being able to trust me, forcing me to react in a suicidal manner. Then, as her tendrils of power reached within me, I felt her love for me. It soothed away the pain, it took my breath away, it made me drop the syringes clasped in my paws, and then, a regal presence made its appearance. One that I did not know yet was so familiar. I hear a voice, from out of nowhere, suddenly say, "My Queen, you have returned to your humble servant!"
I realize the voice is mine. And I find that I am crying.

Sirse stares at you, a bewildered look on her face. The look vanishes quickly behind a mask of anger coupled with concern. Torn between slapping you for such a rash display of recklessness.
Her frustration getting the better of her, Sirse's hand snapped out sending the syringes flying onto the undergrowth. Her eyes, flashing, she stabs out a message on her wrist.
'If you Ever do something so rash again. I will kill you myself!'
As her anger ebbs, another emotion creeps over her, fear. Fear of loss. Fear that after watching over you fourteen hours you would throw your life away in a fit of emotional rage.
Lastly, the words you have spoken seem to resonate within her. Shaking Sirse to the core. Clicking her response, she eyes you with accusing serious.
'What did you just say?'

"I...I said...My Queen. Why am I crying Sirse? What are these memories? My guilt weighs heavily on me. I have failed you. I ask for your forgiveness." as I turn my eyes beseechingly towards her, tears flowing like rivers.
I know not why I cry. A stone that I did not know was there, sits heavily on my heart. For once, I am unable to comprehend what has happened. I look at Sirse and for a moment, I see an aura shining around her, she carrying herself like royalty. Her presence demanded unquestioning obedience and I was eager to obey her. Her power no longer held my mind, as my paw dropped to the ground. She spoke to me without the use of the phone! Why am I not surprised? And, why does my heart ache when she is angry with me?
I slowly shake my head as I address her despite the tears. "Why do you use such primitive means to speak to me? I heard you in my head. It was the loveliest of voices as if a choir of angels had descended to the earth and spoke. Hearing you through my earpiece does not do justice to the beautiful melody I heard before. Please, do not be mad at me. I cannot bear the thought of being in disfavour with you."

Sirse considered for a long moment, debating how to answer. If there was one, it would not be simple. It would require hard truths and distant memories long buried. And it would require time. Saddened by what she was going to have to do next, Sirse fixed her gaze on the one before her, her bear.
Eyes fixed on you, Sirse raised her hands to grasp the sides of your head, fingers working into the fur with delicate care. Bowing her head, the energy around her stills, her eyes close and her face scrunches in concentrated effort. And with a sudden jolt you feel the warmth there, burning into your mind, this time with delicate care. Sirse’s eyes glow like twin suns slowly drowning out the world around them.
Memories dance before you, pasts that conflict, memories that are and are not your own spill forth and for a terrible moment so does a river of welling emotions that come up like the tide. And like the tide they all recede. Pushed, by an unseen force, drawn from your mind by a delicate hand, to a beautiful and familiar voice.
‘Now is not the time my bear.’ The sweet voice shimmers and manifests before you, ‘These will not help you here. There will be a time, but for now forget…forget…forget…’
A shimmering wave of energy, warm and comforting moves over these thoughts drawing a web around them, gathering them up, and with precision care.
‘Remember nothing of this memory.’
With a little snap of energy, the golden light of the memory made form expands out, burning through your thoughts until only a white light remains. Dimly you become aware of the world around you, head throbbing, your skin burns with a fever.
Sprawled on the embankment you get a sense of familiarity; the palms rustle above you and you recall Sirse’s words what seem moments ago now. ‘Oh good, your awake…’ Only Sirse is…
On your chest a small creature huddles, Hazel eyes wide and unfocused. A perpetual stream of blood runs from her nose soaking into your matted fur. Nude and shivering, Sirse’s mouth works open and closes again, as though trying to form words that will not come.
...
Somewhere far far away, a shark's eyes narrow as a tiny ward etched on a silver tuning fork begins to hum.

I quickly gather Sirse into my arms, unaware of how she became bloodied and naked. All thoughts leave me except of how to take care of her. She seems unable to move, her body twitching horribly. I don't understand what is happening to her but I have to do something. I tear off half my pants legs to use the material to clothe her naked body. Having clothed her, I now attend to the bleeding in her nose. I cradle her in my arms and slowly lean her head back to stop the flow as it seems like the River Styx overflowing its banks. I only succeed in her almost choking on her own blood. I quickly sit her upright and attempt to gently squeeze the bridge of her nose to stop the flow. It seems to work. However, once I let go, it continues to pour unabated and she is starting to whiten due to the loss of blood. I scan my mind as something seems off. Suddenly I realize that the stone she wears around her neck is gone. I remembered from my research that the Black Onyx had the power to suppress and she never took it off. Why did she not have it now? I quickly scan about me, searching with my eyes and my nose, to smell if I can find the object that surely has her scent on it.
There!
My nose directs me to large bush where after a quick search, I find the missing gemstone. I hurry back to her to place it around her neck once more. I pray that I was not too late.
"Sirse," I whisper in her ear, as I hold her to my chest, "come back to me. Please! I beg of you. Don't leave me , my love!"

Her head was pounding, the aftershock of casting a spell without any verbal incantation to cushion her mind had resulted in a mental backlash. Though it felt more like a well guided lightning bolt had slammed into her brain, and without her fragment to dampen the effects of her spell the rebound had been tenfold. Everything hurt, like a thousand tiny needles had been driven into every inch of her body at once. It would pass, eventually, but it was going to take time.
Dimly she became aware of world around her, though she loathed to open her eyes, knowing what to expect. Recalling her training, she tried to steady her mind, and forced her lids open a crack. The world was a haze of colors and blurry images, or scents and distorted sounds. Around her something was moving. No someone, though it was hard to smell anything over the pungent coppery odor in the air.
Soft hands moved to embrace her, and a familiar weigh settled around her neck, the effects were soothing, easing some of the backlash, though the pain lingered. Hands shaking, Sirse groped around finding her nose, her paws coming away sticky. That would explain the dizzying sensation. No matter how simple the spell, without any way to verbalize the incantation, there would be repercussions.
The effort left her drained, and for a moment she thought she would black out again, but strong hands moved to intercept her fall. Forcing her eyes to work, Sirse raised her head and looked up at her savior, a massive bear, with sharp eyes, that seemed to see right through her.
Mouth opening she tried to speak his name, to offer her thanks, but only silence came out. Head lolling on her shoulders, she instead reached out, to touch his face, to make sure he was really there. And then let herself fall into him, hoping he understood.

Reassured that she is still with me but realizing she needs to recover, I tended to her face. I took a damp cloth and swab away the blood that had congealed around her nose. I gave her some water to drink and held her in my arms, gently cradling her so that she is nestled comfortably in them. I looked around for the medical kit that she had managed to recover when she had fought the TRex. I soon located it and went over to it while still holding her. I remembered that we had a deadline to meet. I cursed myself for foolishly getting knocked out when I had rammed the jeep against the TRex. However, its presence had served to scare away the raptors prowling the area. Hopefully, we would be safe and as night seemed to be falling, I needed to get my vixen to a safe place to recover.
When did I start to consider her my vixen? I mentally wondered with a smile. I looked down with affection at the little creature dozing in the crook of my arm as I gathered the medical kit and gun with the other. She is certainly adorable and I wouldn't mind her becoming my mate...if she would have me. I mentally shook off the fantasy of her wanting to become my mate. I knew she cared for me. Something in my heart told me she did. But, was it enough to want to be together with me forever? The answer would have to wait until I got her off the island...and I knew I had to tell her of my agreement with her brother as I needed her to agree with my plan that hopefully would save her, Arie and myself.
I made my way back to the Visitors Centre where I hoped to find some leftover rations. We had not eaten anything since we had arrived over fourteen hours ago and although time was of the essence, we needed our strength in order for us to survive this place.
Once inside and having deposited the sleeping Sirse in a bunk, I returned to bar the doors, this time with more steel rods that I had found lying about. And with the power back on, hopefully the electric fences would keep out the predators for the night. I headed towards the Central kitchen. I did not look in the refrigerators because I was sure that any food in there had rotted by now and I did not want the stink to attract hungry reptiles. I instead went to the larder where they would have kept the canned food. Hopefully, some of them were still edible. I was elated by what I found although I wasn't really sure what SPAM was but according to the label, it said it was meat. I found some rice and canned baked beans and started to prepare a meal for the both of us. Using my claws, I ripped open the cans and started the meat cooking and heated the baked beans in another pot. I rinsed out the rice and placed around 4 cups of it and added double the amount of water in the pot and set it on the stove to cook.
While the food was cooking, I looked for plates and cutlery. Unable to locate where the dining sets were located, I settled on three large salad bowls to hold the food in. Once the food was cooked, I shut off the stoves, ladle the food separately into three three large bowls. I place them on a serving tray and head back to Sirse whom I had left for almost an hour. I didn't want her to awaken if I wasn't around but hopefully she wouldn't panic once she found herself back inside the Visitors Centre.
I find her still sleeping and set the food beside her while I went back to the control room to check on the remaining vehicles inside the garage and the equipment in the island's inventory. I needed to see if the Vet Centre had the necessary tools and if so, I needed to convince Sirse that my plan could...no, needed to work so that she, Arie and myself would be safe, not only from the wrath of CS, but from her brother's as well.

The scent of hot food pulled Sirse from her slumber. Still woozy from the loss of blood she had to move slowly. Her body felt light, as though she were made of paper and would blow away in a light breeze.
Taking her bearings, she relized to her shock that she had been moved back to the visitors center. Several horrific scenarios played out through her mind in rapid succession. Raptors inside the complex, a possible Trex hiding in the larger areas of the building, and Gus was missing.
Eyes lingering on the bowl of food before her, she felt the curved sides. Still warm, he must have come and gone recently then. A little pang, rolled over her as she wondered if her companion knew how open the facilities here really were. With power temporary restored the doors could be locked, hopefully most of the dinosaurs had made a retreat back into the jungle.
Settling herself cross-legged she pulled the bowl into her lap and began to eat. She had forgotten how hungry she was and the rice with added protein was just what her body needed. Ears perked, alert to every noise around her Sisre eat qickly finishing her meal in a few minutes.
Thirsty she looked around for Gus, he had their only canteen. Failing to locate him she set out in search of hydration. After a lengthy search need was answered in the form of one of the vending machines. It took considerable persuading and by the time she had finished with it, the machine was no longer in any working order. But she had her bottle of water.
Not wanting to remain at the scene of so much destruction and the subsequent noise generated by such she quickly took her leave.
Thinking back to the jeeps, she did a quick inventory, with one now in pieces there would only be one other working gas powered jeep, and that would be at the helipad due south.
There would be several shotguns in the armory, but they would be of little use to her. But there was something she did need...dropping to all fours she streaked off to the labs.

Startled by the sound of a loud crash, I quickly scan the monitors in the control room to find the source, If it was a dinosaur, I'd have to take extreme measures to find a way to kill it before it got to Sirse. After several moments, I find the vending machine that had been toppled over but no predator in sight. I quickly look over the other monitors only to see a blur of silver flash by one of the screens. I track where it was and look to see where that passageway would lead to. Thankfully, it was away from where Sirse was resting. Referring to the building's layout, the creature that had knocked over the vending machine was headed towards the lab area. Unsure as to what would attract one of the denizens of the island to that particular room, I grab the rifle I had originally with me and headed in the direction the creature had taken.
As I reach the labs, I see that the door is ajar and I slowly make my way to it in order not to attract attention to myself...for now. Whatever was inside could be viewed as a threat to my companion and I was prepared to take extreme measures in order to protect her.
I stop just outside as I hear the creature moving about inside. I take a glance inside and I can see a very large shadow, upright on what appeared to be four feet, reaching up with its claw to some sort of tower, the other resting on the table. A six-legged creature? Can it be the ancestor of arachnids? Or was this a creature similar to the legendary Goro, champion of the Shokan, the half mammal, half dragon race? Either way, I need to find out if it is a liability or not.
Gripping the rifle firmly, I shove the door open with my shoulder, pointing my rifle towards the abomination, while yelling, "Freeze, spawn of hell! One move and I'll...Sirse?"
I see the love of my life atop a chair reaching out to the cooling towers attempting to take some of the vials still attached to it. I slowly lower the rifle, aware that I had nearly shot my companion and put the safety back on. "Please. Explain yourself."

Sirse froze half in shock, half in horror. Gus? How? Then it dawned on her, he must have been in the control room this whole time, when she thought him to be in the garage. A calculated error, one that she cursed herself for. It must have been the blood loss coupled with the cocktail of drugs running through her system, it was making her sloppy. And sloppy gets you killed.
Briefly Sirse considered her options, she could try to alter his memory again as she had just as he jumped from the jeep. That had been a risky call though, evocation magic was not her strong suit, and she suspected it only worked due to his desire to see that future outcome. If he had resisted…her subtle alteration would have been noticed and he would probably be at odds with her. She could not dampen his mind like she had before when those dangerous memories started to surface, something that she knew could spell doom for them both if her employer found out. And if she should tell him. The second time had nearly killed her though, and she suspected if she attempted it again, it would have fatal consequences for both of them.
Instead, closing her eyes, she slid the coolant tanks cylindrical shape back down, the mists pooling at her feet. It was over, all her careful planning, her hope to go around Blacks deal, to help her companion help himself. If he had not known what she was planning then he would not have been obligated to try and stop her. That plan was in shambles now.
Very weary looking, Sirse regarded the gun still pointed in her general direction, the fatigue of the last twenty four hours was beginning to build up. Food and rest had helped, but now the familiar aches were creeping back from where they had slept. Clicking out her response carefully she fixes you with tired hazel eyes.
‘I know about your deal with Black. I know you have to try and stop me from retrieving the canister.’
She let that hang in the air for a long moment, then looks pointedly at the towers before her, suddenly very weary.
‘This may be my- our, only chance to get off this island.’

Angrily I striode over to where she stood as I grabbed her in both my paws.
"You do not make decisions for me," I growled angrily, as I looked into her beautiful hazel eyes, "especially if it means I risk losing you."
I then pressed my lips firmly to hers as as I kiss her passionately and hold her to me, my emotions running wild. She knew what Black had charged me with and yet, here she is risking her life in order to save me at the expense of failing her employer's orders.
I lose myself in the kiss as she responds back hungrily. After what seems like an eternity, we pause to gather our breaths. My forehead is pressed to hers. "Please," I whisper, "your sacrifice will only hurt me in the end. CS may not let us work together anymore and I cannot bear the thought of not being with you. Worse, I cannot imagine what he will do to punish you if you fail." I lift her chin so that I may see her eyes and get lost in them again. "Anything concerning the both of us, we need to come to a mutual decision. I was going to tell you about your brother's orders to me even though he had directed me not to tell you. I am an open book to you. You need only ask and your wish is my command."
"Besides," I remind her, "the power in the compound had been out for some time, enough for the food in the fridge to spoil. What makes you think those embryos are still viable given that there wasn't any power to keep the coolants running?"

As your arms close around her, pinning her arms to her side you catch a flash of emotion. Fear. Fear of what you may do now that you know, fear that you may realize that she meddled with your memories. That fear changes to guilt at those words, had she stolen that choice from him?
Guilt to confusion, as you draw her up and from there, confusion to passion as you press your lips to hers. The warmth and desire of that kiss flared through her, burning within her. Massive arms pinning her slender arms to her side she was helpless to resist as you push her against the coolant tank. Somehow that helplessness was exciting, terrifying, but exciting, fueling her passion.
Still shaking with the energy from the kiss, it took Sirse several attempts to punch out her message.
‘I- I am sorry. I –‘ At a temporary loss as to what to address first, she began again. ‘Do not tell me of Black’s plans. If you gave your word, do not break it for me. Let me deal with C.S. I know how his mind works.’
Glad for a change of a very sensitive topics, Sirse looked over at the large cylinders and smiled. A few flicks of her fingers later her response came through.
‘Auxiliary power. This chamber is hooked to the thermal vent generator, it should continue to work until that generator goes down. And even then, there is enough coolant here for the embryos to survive upwards of two weeks.’
Holding up a small plastic tub, full with slots for beakers Sirse looks up at you. ‘Please. Help me.'
Something in her eyes tells you it is more than just a request.

I glare at her at first, hating that she chose to protect me rather than herself. However, I relented as I gazed into her eyes. I sighed. She knew she had the power over me and I would not deny her whatever she asked of me. I help her up and lift her to the top of the holding tanks and activate the opening sequence for the cooling towers to rise with their precious cargo.
