Yes they are! This one just finished filling its belly with an over ripe pear we had on the ground for them. They love fruit as it breaks down, lots of sugar and moisture in one sitting. Makes for happy butterflies!!!

We have a couple of pear trees, that we let fruit fall from for the butterflies. We will put fruit out for them as well, I don't know how they find it but they do. When that fruit is so ripe it is breaking down, you can get close to them!

We had a bunch of them this year! I plan on being ready for the butterflies next year, we have a lot more here than we did in Washington.
