Description
[LAST EDIT FOR REAL] 09/23/11 - I really hate this tutorial. If it helps you, I'm glad, but this is so different from how I do...everything now. I'm scrapping it and closing comments. If you have anything specific to ask me, send a note my way and I'll answer.[LAST EDIT] HOLY MONKEYS ON A SEE-SAW. YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY!! Over 1000 faves? I'm so honored, I can't even express it anymore. Thanks for all the comments and faves. This is definately the most popular piece in my gallery, but if you would ever be so kind to browse through my other works, I'd be very much obliged :3
Buahaha! The return of the crappy tutorials XP
Personally, MS paint is my favorite program to draw eyes. So instead of doing a full scale ms paint tutorial, I decided to just cover the eyes ('cuz I'm THAT lazy)
Yes, I know it's messy and junk.
Hope this helps you even remotely.
[EDIT] Nearing 60...wait 600? Why doth you people keep faving this? THAT'S CRAZY. It's not even very good D:
[EDIT2] 'Kay just to clear things up even more, your eyes do NOT have to look like mine. Please try and put some emotion into them. Trust me, if your eyes's expression is good enough, you won't even HAVE to make it all shiny! I only used that generic anime eye up there to show where and how to color on a larger scale.
[EDIT3] ~~~ this tutorial helped me with expressions. Go; enlighten yourselves.
[EDIT4] Someone finally noticed that there was a better way to get rid of the sketch lines:
1) select the color of the sketch lines (use the eyedropper tool)
2) select the eraser
3) right-click to erase only the selected color
Thank you,
Or you can use the second listed tutorial below.
Read the above tutorials, TONS of help.

ok...seriously. it does not suck!!! how the heck did yuo do such a good job on this??? did you use a mouse??? if so than that is just amazing!
i mean, i have the same program and i suck on it!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
CommanderPigg In reply to Haharu [2010-04-04 22:10:31 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, at that time I used a mouse for everything XD
How I get around on it is that I use the beizer (curvy line) tool, since my hand is so unsteady. I can't do crap with a mouse now though, I'm too used to a tablet XD
My best advice for you is to practice and be observant. When you watch certain shows or anime, look at the eyes carefully and try to pick apart the pieces of it. When using a pixel-based program like MS paint, you have to simplify a lot on it: just get the basic shades down, and after that, you can soften the edges.
I looked through your gallery, your stuff is pretty nice! I can see you're pretty talented.
Oh my, I think I rambled too much, sorry

yuo didn't ramble at all! you actually gave me some good tips to use!
one question though...what is the "beizer tool" ? i have never seen it one there.
thnx for the comment! your just amazing with your art!

WarriorDreamer12 In reply to ??? [2010-02-21 02:43:15 +0000 UTC]
Helped alot! But I hae a question. How did you make the zig zag thing? Did you colored it in with green? That's what I messed up on. I made a deviation using this tutorial to help me make it: [link]
As you can see its not good. But from far away the eye looks good
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
CommanderPigg In reply to WarriorDreamer12 [2010-02-21 16:23:31 +0000 UTC]
Usually for the "zig-zag" thing, I use two colors. One that's lighter than the base and another one that's lighter than that. I just go up and down with my mouse, following a crescent shape path on the bottom of the eye. Some of the zig zags are connected, some aren't. I usually make the lightest color with not as much zigzags as the lighter color, for subtlety.
Sorry if that didn't help, if you have any more questions, please ask me! I think that you're doing a pretty good job so far

WarriorDreamer12 In reply to CommanderPigg [2010-02-25 16:44:46 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. How does the lighter part look softer? I mena its really thick and light. (it gets thicker)

CommanderPigg In reply to WarriorDreamer12 [2010-02-25 23:00:51 +0000 UTC]
Um, I'm not sure what you mean. I'll try though:
For the first layer of "light colors," I use a color that's only a LITTLE lighter than my base. As I apply the lighter colors (lighter than the previous) I move towards the middle of the eye (following a less wide crescent shape) and apply it more sparingly.
The main trick is to use atleast two layers, and don't make the colors TOO different from each other (only increase the lightness a little for each layer). The more layers you use, the smoother it'll look (but the longer it takes, lol)

CommanderPigg In reply to BoiChick [2010-02-08 03:01:42 +0000 UTC]
LOL, if you don't keep at it, you lose that skill (It happened to me, I can't draw anything on MS paint now XD)
But if you really get comfortable with it, MS paint can produce some really decent images.
This tutorial is a dinosaur DX

Very, very true. Though I don't have photoshop, so MS paint's all I got besides paper and pens. XD I've seen people do amazing stuff with it, so it's underrated.
Dinosaur or not~! It works.
