Description
The Greater Royal Confederated Kingdoms Air Force is the most recent military branch of the Confederated Kingdoms; created begrudgingly in 1938, the GRCKAF is a young organization just beginning to establish itself. With the majority of its aircraft at present being ex-GRCKA co-operation planes, major development remains to be done in order to establish the GRCKAF as a modern air force. In accordance with its more modern roots, the GRCKAF field uniform is a much more contemporary design in relation to the heavy overcoat with split tails that the GRCKA standardly utilizes. A once piece jumpsuit design with copious pockets and re-enforced fabric over joints, the design shares its army counterpart's philosophy of minimal distinction in terms of rank; markings on the collars are the only distinguishing factors between a commission officer and an enlisted man. Worth noting is that the GRCKA utilizes a modified variant of the GRCKAF uniform for tanker crews.
On the left is an example of a flight crew's uniform, featuring the CK's flag and a wound-band on the right sleeve. In the field, decorations are extremely minimal; however the wound band is treated as an exception for all service branches as it builds comradeship for those who've been wounded or otherwise seriously injured while honorably engaged in duty. As the Confederated Kingdoms has succesfully avoided international conflict since its conception, this may indicate that the pilot was injured in a crash landing, or otherwise was injured while volunteering for service abroad, as per the CK's officer exchange program. Note the pistol attached to the pilot's right leg, in a position most easily accessible while seated. Flight crews are distinguishable by their golden wings on the epaulets.
Center is a ground crew's uniform, with minimal decorations. The unsung heroes of any air force, ground crew maintain aircraft and otherwise make it possible for their golden winged brethren to fight the good fight as needed. Discernible by their silver wings, the ground crew fills the majority of the GRCKAF's ranks, and run all varieties of tasks from mechanical maintenance to fueling and tending.
On the right is an up and coming legend in the CK's armed forces, and as with most forms of change in their military one of the more controversial units--the blackwings. Taking a cue from the GRCKN's takeover of maritime landing operations, the GRCKAF was quick to claim paratroop capacities as its own jurisdiction following its establishment in 1938, much to the indignation of the army, now twice cut out of front-line, glory-farming roles. However, the blackwings have been very slow in development, with less than three hundred certified paratroopers being produced out of discreet training cooperation with undisclosed foreign powers by the start of 1941. However, the acquisition of a small number of Spartan transport craft is moderately accelerating the process, though much development remains lacking--such as a better alternative to the M1924A carbine being used as their standard weapon, as its rate of fire has been found insufficient for airborne fire. The individual uniform displayed here however is the rarest of the rare, as indicated by the large pin on the right shoulder, indicating that its wearer is a member of the Special Tasks Field Unit--a graduate of both the blackwings and naval infantry programs, of which less than fifty are believed to exist. The dagger worn on his belt is an additional ceremonial or decorative piece, though its specific symbolism or commemorative role remains unclear.
Thanks goes to a whole buttload of people for these ones--Milosh--Andrich , Zared-Tregonwell , and Grand-Lobster-King coming first and foremost to mind.
