Description
The U.S.S. Enterprise as seen in “The Original Series”.This was a fun one to do. It is magnificent in its simplicity. First seen in the 60s television show “Star Trek”.
I really like how this came out. It surpasses my expectations.
Time: about 7 hours.
Modeled: Rhino 4.0 SR5A

I once made an Enterprise for my 3D animation class in high school, wasn't nearly as good as yours tho. Great job, love it

Really nice work! You should definitely put that into a scene... I'd love to see a pic of your Enterprise orbiting a green and purple planet, just like in the Original Series.
My only criticism would be that it lacks some details on the saucer area. I'd like to see some "seams" on the saucer section, and maybe a border for those windows.
Would you mind posting a picture of the ship's aft? I'd like to see the shuttle bay and engine nacelles a bit better.

Yes one of my main items on my ‘update’ list is to try some new technique for the windows. Thus far I’ve been manually cutting every window and detailing out of the existing polysurface. Hence the ‘flatness’ of the windows. But I think I’ll drop the ‘windows’ back a little bit and add the frame around them. As for the ‘seams’ I’d have to make a custom bump map for that. I’ve just been a little busy with classes. Suddenly realizing I don’t have that much time to devote to CAD as I did in high school. Right now I’m working on the Enterprise-D. now that’s daunting. Lots of detail on that ship. I think I’ll release a render of the individual pieces as I finish them. Then the whole ship.
As for the update to the TOS Enterprise. That might do that before finishing the D’s saucer, just because it wouldn’t take that long to do.
As for the aft, as with most of my models, theres more detail than will be seen in the render. Lol. The nacelles are particularly detailed. Maybe I’ll do renders of the individual parts.
Oh also if you haven’t seen, there are three other renders of the ship from both sides, for and aft.
Thanks for the comment and the constructive criticism.

Hmm... Well, you've already cut the windows out, so couldn't you just bevel (or extrude, then chamfer) the windows inward slightly? Incidentally, that's how I'd try to do the seams as well.
I didn't know you had other renders of the TOS Enterprise. They look very good as well. the detail on those "pipes" at the back of the nacelles is good. But whatever technique you use to put the seams on the saucer, you should put it on the shuttlebay door as well.
Beautiful job, overall. Someday I'd like to take a crack at modeling an Enterprise (TOS, A, or B).

Yeah. That’s what I mean about the windows. As for the seams. I would most likely just difference the 'seams' out of the saucer.
As for the 'pipes' that was just a 'piped' polyline, with 'polar arrayed' rectangle around the middle. Simple but effective.
I've got to say that the most irritating part of the whole model was the 'grills' on the ends of the nacelles. Pardon my French, but they were a bitch.
And as for the shuttle bay doors. that was the one thing I absolutely forgot to do, until after I posted the renders. lol. Kinda hoped no one would notice. lol

Uh oh. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it then, if no one was suppose to notice.
In any case, fantastic job. I look forward to seeing your Enterprise-D.
