i would have to say that the mindflayer is my favorite! i love magic and Cthulhu and they seem to be a nice combination of both!

Am I the only one that thinks that this guys are more well dressed and civilized than previous monsters from D&D?
Has civilizations advanced so much that even Ogres and Halflings are dressing more properly?

I love the gnoll, but it resembles earlier gnolls and isn't necessarily a huge step forward. The goblin, ogre, and frost giant are favorites for creating a slightly different visual take. I also like the way the troll is a more classic look than recent versions.

Not a huge fan of this artwork. The proportions are all off, and they all look like they are going to fall over.

I might agree with your comments as it pertained to some of the individual concept pieces (though I am a fan of it), but this work seems to have much better proportions. Which ones are off in your eyes.
The frost giants legs are obviously short if it was just a scaled human, but it works for me. From a bio-mechanical perspective it makes sense as it would be easy to carry the much heavier load on shorter, stumper legs (though they should also be thicker) as it reduces the bending stress on the bones.
But other than that, the creatures in this image seem pretty spot on to me. Which ones do you have a problem with?

These are great. The orc, yuan-ti and gnoll are the ones that I particularly want to single out; the ogre also.
