When and how did you get started in Cosplay? It was 7 years ago when i officially started in cosplay. I used to travel to events with an online store that i own and always looked at the cosplayers and wanted to cosplay like them, when i was a kid i did all of my costumes for workplays and other events at my school. So i started with what i like the most, FX make up for my zombie costumes and after that i continued with more complex and specific characters making the costumes and everything needed.
What was your first Cosplay? As a real characters i played as Alice from Resident evil at a zombie walk, but before that used to make random zombies.
What was the most difficult character? Kenshin Himura from Samurai X. It was my first cross play and the first time doing specific historical costume, and the pants that he wears (hakama) has a complex patron to make and it needed to be accurate, so being my first time at it i had a hard time trying over and over to do it properly.
What characters are you planning and type of character are you drawn to? i like old school characters, and characters that are similar in the way they are to myself. For my next works im planning a few specific things but i have a huge list waiting to be done. You can check my next cosplays at my social accounts because it may change depending on external factors.
What is your process when starting from the beginning with a new cosplay? First i see if my actual looks (weight, heights) are similar to the character i want to play, if the character is thinner i follow a healthy diet and exercise to get a similar weight. If the character has more weight or have muscles i follow another type of diet in order to look more like the character (i like to see myself as an actor that will change their looks in order to do a more accurate role. My diets are done in a appropriate lapse of time because im aware of the danger of loosing or gaining weight too fast and is not something that anyone can achieve alone, always visit your doctor if you are planning to do something like that). After i visit fabric stores in order to find what i need. In my hometown is really hard to find specific things so sometimes i have to order fabrics and items to other cities or abroad. Then i start the process of making props and sewing. I’ll look tutorials at internet only if it’s something new that have to be really accurate. It’s not normal for me to make paper patterns because im not really patient, so i draw at same fabric and wish for the best (99% of times it works for me).
Are there any helpful hints in sewing, costume design or any other aspects of your cosplay that you discovered in doing your creations? Nothing new really, i just prove to myself that practice is everything with any technique that you’ll use. At the beginning things are not going to be perfect but as you practice you get better and better.
Do you have a preferred brand of makeup in your cosplay? And if so why? Not a preferred brand really, but i love Korean makeup, so my makeup bag is full of it, because their products fit my skin tone (im really pale), and other brands at my country don’t bring the tone that i need.
What are you listening to? Since i was a teenager i have been listening metal, goth, symphonic metal, heavy metal, folk metal, classical and similar music.
Favorite Movies? Matrix is my favorite, together with the animated one, and i love Cloverfield…don’t ask me why but im obsessed with those kind of movies (monster).
Favorite Animes? Robotech, Sailor Moon, Evangelion, Most of Clamp work too.
Favorite TV Shows? TV series: Criminal Minds, NCIS, Face off
Is there a scene from a anime, cartoon, movie or tv show that left a big impression on you and what was it? Most of monster Cloverfield scenes lol, Neo moving like the agents, Darien (Mamoru) breaking up with Serena (Usagi) , the chapter about Nina from FMA (wont say any more about that T_T), and many other that i don’t recall right now.
Books? Love to read but i don’t have attachments to any in particular, but i like historical books and fiction/fantasy books.
Games? My favorite video game is “The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time” because it marked me when i was a kid and now i just love “The legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild”.
Beverage? Raspberry juice (the real thing, not a flavored/colored water)
Fast Food/ Junk Food of choice? French fries
Candy bar? Don’t like candy bars…Love Skittles (the purple ones) and the berries version of Cavendish & Harvey sweets.
Favorite Breakfast cereal? Don’t eat cereal
Is there something not going on in the cosplay world that you would want to see or is there something you would want to change? Everybody would love to be in a envy free world but unluckily envy is part of most humans, so you’ll find it also at the cosplay world, that’s one of the issues that i would love to erase from cosplay but we can’t have it all.
What was your favorite toy growing up? Videogame Consoles
Who is your biggest character crush and why? Don’t have any character crush
You enter a warehouse. There is little light, but you are able to find your way around. The sound of music draws you to a corner of the warehouse. There are FIVE GHOUL CLOWNS, playing a dancing video game. They have razor sharp teeth and scary weapons. Magic can not affect them; they sense your presence and turn facing you. They run to you to attack. Time to fight! What character would you want to be to defeat them and how would you handle the situation? Yuuko Ichihara from XXXHolic, nobody can scare that girl.
If you had to be chained with a character for one year, what would be the character and what would you do? Chi, from Chi’s sweet home (a cat) lol i just love cat’s and i have a cat that’s just like Chi (im already chained to that character lol).
You can have dinner with your favorite character. And at this dinner you may ask one question. Who would be the character and what would be your one question? Neo from Matrix. I’ll ask: “was it worth waking up?”
What's number 1 on your bucket list? (Something you want to do before you leave the planet). Travel around the world with the people i love.
What advice would you give to people getting started in Cosplay? Don’t be afraid of trying, this is a beautiful art, and something that will give you many tools that will help in your daily life (it has been like that for me), it’s not easy, but it’s fun. You can make a lot of new friends, and visit new places. Go ahead follow your heart and just try!!
