Oh yeah!Β Totally over-exposed but that first initial meeting with him as a kid helped cement my Marvel fandom....I discovered him in Secret Wars too, I'd never read a character like him.

Precisely ... I've never been a fan of bringing in all the Japanese stuff either. Wolvie doesn't need to be a super martial artist. I do like the juxtaposition of his savagery with his deep sense of honour though.
Mind you, I liked it when Daredevil was basically an acrobatic boxer without all the ninja stuff. Seems like every non-superstrong hero is a world class martial artist now.

Haha, yeah, I remember how crazy popular ninjas were in the 80s ... dozens of movies with 'Ninja' in the title, video games and what not. My own favourites were the 'Way Of The Tiger' gamebooks, they were wicked.

Revenge of Shinobi on the Sega Mega Drive....I always remember that when you loaded it it had a trademark warning for Spider-Man....couldn't work out why for about two weeks, then Spidey turned up as an end of level boss!Β Perfect 'ninja-ish'Β

Wasn't he a mid-level guy in Stage 2 of 'Shinobi' (showing my extreme geekery)? Little git used to jump on your back. I remember they coloured his mask blue, maybe in a bid to avoid copyright law, maybe because the graphics weren't great back then.

I should add that it was fun drawing Wolvie ... I'm often guilty of 'same face syndrome' in my pics although I work hard to avoid it most of the time. I definitely wanted Logan looking craggier and more weathered than someone like Captain America. IMO I drew his legs a little too short and possibly his head a little too small but can get away with the legs to an extent because Wolvie is short. I ended up dialling back his physique quite a lot, at least his waist, abdomen and legs. People forget but Wolvie is actually a really thick-built guy ... without the adamantium, he's supposed to weigh 195 at 5'3''. That's slightly more than I actually weigh and I'm 6'1''!
