Zikes is a site where emoticons can be added so they can be used in dAmn (dA chat) with an emote code, rather than a thumbcode. Anyone can add an emote. So, here on dA, if I type : noes : without the spaces, I get

Well, there are several ways. First, up at the top of the page is a link named "Chat". That link will take you to a list of chat rooms and you can select which room to join from there. I can post a link to a room like so: #DigitalMedia . Or there's always the ol' autojoin method, once you have a room, or ten you like: [link] .
There's a ton of chat rooms! Don't let that scare you! I'd suggest #DigitalMedia - it's about digital art, it's usually active, and it's usually not overwhelmingly busy.
