Description
EDIT: Added lines for reference of new version of Hellsprite Chase Armor. Working today on backside reference. It took much longer than anticipated to redesign, but I'm happier with the results than I thought I'd be. Looks more 1980s influenced, a bit more militaristic and I feel the proportions are more pleasing. Hopefully, I'll get this done in time for the Skratchjam.Hope you guys don't mind some old crap. Old concept and reference sheet for Cat's Chase Armor, the Hellsprite. I recall working on this during the 4th of July in 2009. Hopefully I've improved since then. Currently working on an updated version, with better proportions, joints that actually look like they might work, a fully designed backside and all that kind of stuff. Might use in the OC pool, if I can get it done in time.
Catherine Sheila Hinkle, Hellsprite Chase Armor and all Skitterpunk Hellsprite related characters are © Michael Corey Landis unless otherwise noted. Other old Chase Armor designs

Whhhaaaaaatttt ~
I see the change with the bulkiness and fuller roundness to your armor build there. Of course, I think your style has come more into being with the change.

I was trying to make it look like she would actually fit inside there, haha. So it looks shorter and less sleek. But, yeah, I've been doing some SPHS sketches where I feel the style is getting as close to finalized as anything gets. Really wanna be off and running on these web comics this summer.

Ambitious I see! Yea, I'm there bud, I know what it's like to want to get projects running. At least you are being more realistic and taking time to think out the build of your armor and characters, so it shows you are being careful with them.

Good references are time saver in the long run. I hope.

Yep, that's how I feel too. Friends ask me why I always draw simple poses for these character sheets, and the matter of it is that the reference/design sheet has to be able to show the details in a manner for the artist to refer to easily.

I love how you draw armor for your female characters!
Can you give me some tips on how I can draw armor for one of my females?

Thanks a bunch!
I could try to help. Usually, for me, it's a lot of trial and error. Been designing an redesigning this armor for 13 years... But, yeah. Show me what your working on sometime and I'll see if I have any ideas for you.

I imagine the new version will be simplified in some ways. In other ways, it will be more complicated. :/

Out of all Loser Factory members in Chase Armor, Cat has the quickest movements, but the least brute strength (at least initially). Her strength in the armor is still multiples of a normal person without enhanced abilities. Her overall endurance and ability to endure pain are at ridiculously high levels, but those aspects can probably be attributed to her personality more than anything. The armor's abilities seem to increase along with wearer's abilities, wether they are physical, mental or some combination thereof.
Thanks!
