Description Tutorial on How to make Katsudon!

Part 2: [link]

i realize most of the ingredients are not shown in the first picture. i forgot to place them in there when i took the picture. sorry.

also, in the ingredients it asks for 2 cups water and 2 cups dashi stock. really, the 2 cups water becomes the 2 cups dashi stock! you place the water first in a pot, boil it and ad about a tsp of Hon-dashi seasoning into the water. it then becomes Dashi-stock. if you try to add both 2 cups water and 2 cups dash together you will get TOO MUCH liquid and the taste will be a bit off.

Okay. Can I find it at a local asian section of a store, or an asian store itself? I read on wikipedia that it contains alcohol.

you should be able to find it at walmart actually! but a local asian store should have it. So yes, just look at your grocer's asian section where the soy sauce is and normally its near that. Its a rice wine vinegar. you won't get drunk off of it but then again... drinking it isn't a good idea as its not made for that purpose. its alcohol level is small if any.

of course! They also use chicken instead of pork in japan! Katsudon is pretty much the same as ton-katsu except that katsudon has sauce and egg. Ton-katsu is normally uses pork but there is a chicken version. and just like ton-katsu; katsudon has a chicken version. So go right on ahead and use chicken! i would suggest using a really good boneless chicken breast with a little bit of chicken broth flavoring already added to it. i know Tyson chicken has something like that. it gives it a little added flavor which is really good! regular boneless breast works great thought, too! if you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

Nope, you can't. *just kidding!* if your making it, put whatever you want in it. you should cook to your own preferences anyway.
