Description A Sushi making tutorial!

Ingredients: Rice, Mirin, Veggies, Meat, Seaweed.

1. Prepare all of your ingedients ahead of time and place them around the table for your convienience.

2. Invest in a sushi mat. Seriously... you can't really make sushi without it. Why not? because if you want straight nice sushi, ones without lumpy parts... then you want a sushi mat. it makes rolling sushi easier

3. Mix your rice with mirin. It is best if you mix mirin right when your rice as finished cooking that way it mixes evenly. Wait for rice to completely cool before use.

4. When cutting your veggies/meats, cut them in LONG strips. ofcourse... you don't have to but it makes cutting the sushi later on a whole lot easier. no bits or pieces will fall out while you are cutting it. *I used small pieces because... it was left overs and all i had*

5. Put your seaweed on the mat. then place your rice all over the seaweed leaving only an inch at the top. *you'll notice i did not do this... i actually wasn't paying attention. i was more concerned about keeping the flys away and the wind from knocking over all my work*

6. Place all your ingredients horizontally across the rice in the center.

7. roll the sushi using the mat. take care not to roll the mat INTO the sushi!!!! You want to lift up the mat *part your holding* up as your roll it along.

8. once rolled, cut it into about... half inch pieces. *or any size you prefer*

9. Now, if you chose to use sesame seeds... you could have either placed it inside with the rest of your ingredients or chose to put it as a topping. once your sushi its cut just sprinkle some of it on top. this is the part where you add in other sauces if you please.

10. Place on plate and eat!

XD not to hard to make really. Note... i sort of made it to look complimentary to *Mel-P 's Crab Wonton tutorial. check that out here: [link]

well, rolling just the rice with the ingredients in it might take forever. you'd get sticky rice on your hands and the ingredients would poke out and cause it all to crumble... your better off making onigiri with it in that case. i suppose it is possible to make it without the seaweed but it would prolly take longer considering how rice falls apart or sticks to everything. if you do not like sushi try using scrambled egg! or tamago yaki! just fry it in a pan, let it cool and pat try with paper towel and use it to replace the seaweed. it should work the same... just be gentle when rolling it because it'll tear more easily then seaweed. or maybe ham since it is already prepackaged and sliced thinly.

Okay, thanks for the tips! ^^ I tried making tamago yaki once and failed miserably. lol It tasted fine, it was just in too many pieces to eat normally. xD

wonder if you could make it without the mat...or the seaweed lol i love sushi...but not a big fan of the seaweed...maybe i could make a different type of sushi....and make it candy! with some sort of something on the inside for like the meats/veggies...then for the rice, i'd use rice crispies...then for the seaweed, i'd use froot roll-ups lmao nice job on the tutorial! now i can make sushi! >w<

the mat is not expensive. 2 dollars at the most. i think i bought mine for about 1.50. XD that would be cute to make a candy sushi version. i'd say go for it cuz i'd like to see that! But if you'd like to make real sushi without the seaweed...how about tryig scrambled egg? like how you make and omlette except once the egg is cooked... take it out, cool it and dry it out with paper towel and use that as a replacement seaweed. or you can make Tamagoyaki as replacement. its the same way... except its japanese egg omlette version.
