Description Happy Holidays!

As a present to all my lovely watchers I decided to share the recipe my Japanese friend gave me. Sorry about the long wait I had a ruff time translating the piece of paper she gave me. The layout is suppose to match the Weeping Onigiri Stationary , because I have been thinking of putting it into the pack. If any spelling or grammar errors appear, please tell me so I can correct it. I hope you guys have fun making them they are very yummy ^^-.

When are you gonna make this a print. It would make a great poster. It would be really cute as coasters or a mug, although you may need to change the dimensions.

I well make one soon. It's at home on a cd and I have to dig it out. I might remake the page a bit (like some pictures) and fix some spelling errors. I'll write it down somewhere so I remember when I go home at the end of November I'll grab the cd and make a print of it.

I`ve never had onigiri before....but they sound delicious...^^ I think we have some sushi rice here...I might just try it out...
Could you put other things in them?
Oh...and yes...I did find a spelling mistake......it's in the little star thingy where you got some letters mixed up...shot and gain...instead of short and grain...nothing conspicuous..^^
You have a pretty lay out...thank you for posting this!

Thank you for the correction. I'll fix it here soon. And yes you can put stuff in them, anything infact. I have had some weird ones with fruit in them. I am glad you enjoyed the recipe. I hope you like making them.

I love making onigiri! [link] That was my first attempt, but I have made them a couple of other times since then. Still haven't used umeboshi, though. Too expensive for a poor college student! I will have to try them with salmon now, though. :-D Yum.

Yay! I was looking for something like this! I always buy onigiri at the store but I'm very picky about the flavors. Now I can make my own! ^^ Thanks for making this!

Omgflyingpigs [2008-06-03 02:08:39 +0000 UTC]

how would you put chicken in the middle??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gonnafly In reply to Omgflyingpigs [2008-06-04 20:59:27 +0000 UTC]

When you have the rice in in a ball, poke the middle and then place the chicken into it. Then put the extra rice over the chicken to seal t in the middle and then you can mold it to your shape! ^^-.

Grrrrrreat recipe.. :3
Only some pictures or illustrations of the process would be nice.
I like the way you've designed it, so it's like the Onigiri in the bottom, is saying it all x3

Thank you, I was thinking of that too since most people don't know the process. When I fix and add stuff to it. I think I might add some photos.

WICKED-ZOEYGIRL [2007-12-31 19:06:31 +0000 UTC]

I've found that it's easier to use a piece of saran wrap and put the rice in that and shape the balls. That way there's no need for the water and salt, when I tried it that way they would stick to my hands any way. I've also found that sprinkling the rice with a rice vinegar-sugar mixture adds a little flavor and helps the rice stick better too (this could also be why whetting my hands doesn't keep the rice from sticking to me)
