Description
It was difficult to get the lighting and the frost patterns how I wanted with this one, but I'm pleased with how it turned out. I consider it to be the colder cousin of Engines of Creation .Made with Apophysis 7X.

I really do. You've outdone yourself. What variables did you work with?

The basic shape is a 3D Spherical gasket, filled in with bubbles, as well as a hyperbolic 'frame', and julian/juliascope for the frosty details. It would probably be easier to look at it in Apophysis though, so I could send the parameters to you in a note, if you like?

Thank you very much - these 3D fractals are always fun to try, I think.

Thanks a lot! I've only really tried using Julia and Spherical in 3D so far, but they often give interesting results.

this has a biological feel to me. pretty, dangerous sort of thing.
the colors are quite pretty.
Nice work Chris.

Thanks Jess, I'm glad you like the colours - colouring is always one of the most difficult parts. I think patterns like the Spherical one here often look like something microscopic or biological. Having said that, I find this one more cold and mechanical, personally.

I am not getting your vibe...I think it is because the color to me is just rich, and slightly reminiscent of a jewels luster. So...it is pretty, lol. That's right...I'm a girl.
This is the lovely thing about such artforms...we see what we wish. It is a wonderful thing, actually.

excellent creation, great depth and colour choice! I always love when artists manage to convey to the viewer the sensation that "something is going on" (I don't know if it's well explained in other words, I find it beautifully dynamic
)
I somehow still prefer the other version, but I really find it well worth to make a little series about this style *hint hint*

Thanks Chiara, I appreciate your feedback. Conveying concepts/feelings through my work is always important to me, especially in fractal art, where there's sometimes a danger of pieces being purely 'mathematical'. The idea of a series is interesting, but I think people might get bored of them after a while; it's essentially just a 3D Spherical gasket with some added extras, after all!
