Description
Speedpaint. One hour.
I used a screencap for reference and layout.
The point being that I want to practice laying down color, form, and brush strokes as fast as possible to compose a scene... with my time limit being an hour.
I still spent too much time noodling with details... I'm thinking I'll limit myself to one brush next time.

You captured the scene better than the show itself with the painting style. The castles in the pilot were decrepit and dark, sure, but this is spooky. I like it.

So inspiring! I need to do some speedWRITING - one finger, one hour, no items, FINAL DESTINATION.

This is an awesome result for a hour. Casual soul won't see an issue here.
Could you please add original, HQ downloadable version? So far you're the only who keep doing NMM sketch/paintings.

I myself have never tried to speedpaint, but your works are making me interested in trying it out. How effective a form of practice would you say it is?

Speedpainting is whatever you want it to be. It could be ten minutes, forty minutes, or two hours -- it's not a race.
Usually, from what I've gathered by looking at other artists, they're done in one sitting, at least that's how I do them.
Personally, I consider it a very effective form of practice. It's sketching, really.
I would say the main aspect of doing speedpaintings/sketches/gestures is to focus more on the process, rather than the end result. The goal is not a finished piece, but rather a satisfying practice.
