I'm getting a little smack talk for the horns. I replied to someone, just thought I'd post my response here, too:
The film takes place in 1972 and there are lava lamps shown in the trailer. I wanted to do something playful and kind of trippy to go with the Campy feeling of the film (Tim Burton makes a lot of Camp films). As for the devil horns - I was a bit iffy about them at first. My intention arose from playing on the fact that a sometimes art and portraits get defaced by drawing devil horns (and goatee) on it. Pair that with the fact that he's a demonic creature, I figured it was a way to add some more playfulness to the piece.
