Description
"Prayeth, the hordes of Hell chant in unison. Prayeth. They bow their frames and worship before the infamous Dark Lords: Murnith, Krugath, Eiru, Pavor, Galganak, Nurhavak, Alnyx, Wralghor. But one came before them all. A shape nearly as old as Hell itself: Dalrun. The fiend was both awed and feared above all others save for the Council of Sin itself. How I could describe such a being is thus: Dalrun the demon. Dalrun the darkest. Dalrun the dead...
Yes, the first and fiercest general of the dark realm deactivated long before Hell even breached the land of man. Dalrun's fate is precisely the reason that Hell began creation of the Dark Machine in the first place.
In ages long past, when Hell first looked to the mortal realm with a yearning for brutal contact, it was Dalrun who made the first fateful journey. A beast with a fury and strength like no other travelled from Hell to Humanity, through soil and reality. When Dalrun finally reached the other side, his form was decimated and barely intact where any other fiend would have died half way.
It was only a few days before the weak, shambling Lord came across the prey of his kind. An injured wolf staring into the terrified eyes of sheep that had never considered a world where predators sought them from the dark.
But even sheep are not defenseless in numbers. Dalrun the First Lord was subdued by the earlier kingdoms of men, armed with dented swords and feeble spears. The already broken Lord fell to the dust, his chassis shut down. The fearful sheep with their eyes opened to the bigger picture dragged the metal remains of the monster to somewhere dark, where the sunlight never reaches.
I know not what place they had made the tomb of Dalrun, but even if I did, it may be better if such a place were left uncharted to all. What I do know is this: The slithering flames that whispered from the Dark Lord's armour remained in the eyes and minds of his killers. Man would go on to project what they had seen by writing about Hellfire, a notion now immortalized in our once dear holy book.
Dalrun died, but he did make the journey nonetheless. With this, Hell began preparations for an invasion which you and I now suffer the results of. And while the hundreds of other creatures that reside in that mechanical world now traverse our home with ease, Dalrun's body remains hidden, dead but not gone. The Fire eternal remains with little more than a silent and sinister spark, waiting for something to find the tomb and reignite the Dark Lord from generations in silent slumber."
