Mr. Butterfly looks a little angry. .______.Just about every Kirby fan has seen this by now, so hopefully I'm not responsible for putting anyone into shock, but... this is Meta Knight's original design before he apparently was given bat wings instead of butterfly wings. I had massive problems with this because of the mask design and wings (where most of my time was spent. 9 hours?! I'd say half of that was spent on making them, and then trying to glue them on. Couldn't find my hot glue gun so the wings are being held down with cheap school glue). I also intensely hate butterflies because of a science project I did a while back. NEVER. EVER. Do butterflies for a periodic table theme.
I want to take a moment to say that actually, this butterfly design really fits the Kirby universe's colorful and happy atmosphere, but if this was the original Meta Knight design, I only wonder how the sprite would have looked. I think the bat-winged Meta Knight was easier to do in sprite form, which was probably why it eventually got picked.
But Sakurai, WHY? Why didn't you use your design for another character at the very least? D:

I didn't know this was his original design. :3 it's epic! although I'm glad they didn't keep the butterfly wings and design. it's very Kirby but there's something wrong with the concept of it. Great job though, clay is hard! XD I think I made a pun on accident there.

I would definitely agree that he wouldn't have made as scary of a boss as he was in Meta Knight's Revenge. XD

Dannng, you beat me to it! The thought just came to me today that I should make my own Butterfly Knight figure, and I came into my inbox and saw this.

There's a mad rush for art on Mr. Butterfly here; thought I'd join in. If you're going to make one too, my only recommendation is to make wire supports for the entire wing. I was being an idiot and trying to conserve the little scraps of wire I have left. Doing just half of the wing isn't enough and I had to redo it. I really should have gone out to the store and gotten longer wire for it. XD
Of course Butterfly Meta Knight is beautiful. :3

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I'll definitely be making him sometime soon (though I decided to draw him first...hrnnng that mask detail, symmetry can go jump off a cliff), and it's a good thing I have a lot of spare 18-gauge wire.
Heh heh, at this point my Magolor is almost halfway painted, and it's drying as we speak. I also have a Marx and a Bandana Dee. Not everyone can say that they have a Waddle Dee in their oven X'D
