Someone asked if these Chinese legend crossovers were going to be a fanfiction, but they’re not. I’m just drawing them for fun. At this point, I will probably be doing the rest of these digitally. I thought it’d be cool to use actual Chinese watercolors on rice paper, but it’s too expensive. The only authentic thing in this drawing is my stamp (I moved it from where it was in the line art) and the rice paper texture (which didn’t turn out very good after scanning it). ... meh, everything looks kind of shiny...沙悟浄 is the third disciple in Journey to the West. He is a monk who was kicked out of heaven and forced to live in a river on Earth as punishment. He eats anyone who tries to cross the bridge (the skulls on his necklace are from a group of monks). The main heroes of Journey to the West arrive and defeat him, but 沙悟浄 is promised forgiveness from the gods if he helps them accompany their master from China to India.
Similarities to Meta Knight?
- Meta Knight is classified as the third main character in the Kirby series behind Kirby and King Dedede
- 沙悟浄 reincarnates into a river dwelling monster, Meta Knight in the anime is possibly the demonbeast experiment mentioned by Kabu, therefore a monster of sorts

All of the Kirby characters have kind of weird shaped bodies with feet but no legs. I drew one in front (purple thing right under him) and the other behind him.

Thanks! In the legend, Sha Wujing was some sort of deity before he was cast out of heaven, I'm not sure if he was classified as a god or not.

I don't have anything planned yet for Galacta Knight. There's still a lot of options for other Chinese legends. I agree, Galacta Knight would be cool to do for this.

it can be a god of the wind or sky, as meta knight is of the ocean, they are like rivals and that fit, well I know nothing, maybe they dont even exited XD

I'm matching the characters up with characters from Chinese legends, I can't think of one of the wind/sky off the top of my head. I'll probably find something for Galacta Knight eventually. XD

I love your Kirby-combined-with-Chinese-culture artworks! This one in particular is very pretty. The flow of everything- from the water, to the costume, to Meta Knight's wings- is just so perfect! I really like the calligraphy in the background and the detail in the skull necklace.

Cooooool! I love the way the water looks! The foam looks minimalist, the water itself looks like stained glass, and the colors fade into each other beautifully! Meta Knight is a pretty shade of blue, and the detail in the skulls is excellent!

I'm doing great! I feel like classes are just a little bit less stressful than last year. Big improvement. I think once I finish all my college applications and essays, it's going to be all good. I just turned scholarship stuff in this weekend, I'll have to see what happens in the spring. c:

Such wonderful and beautiful art you have done here. I like how you do find similaties with MK. But the only fact to know that you did this in paper, it truly makes me wordless. Really...I can't find words besides that this is truly beautiful.
It may look "shiny" but I do believe it truly gives this beauty art the essence it needs.

I thought shiny was a good thing xD I've watched to much firefly although I'm not much into the Chinese culture I like this art piece. It is wonderful, and I love the lighting in the water, as well as the lines are so smooth. As always you did amazing. x3
