Description A tutorial on how to make a unified color palette, aka how to make colors look good next to each other. Not a lot of people understand how color works, and while this isn't the end-all be-all, it certainly helps when you're stuck.

A life changer for me, this. Had a super hard time picking nice colours due to my wonky colour vision (red/green. Not severe, but bad enough) and these tricks just made ALL the difference. Thank you so much. Can't believe I haven't thought of this sooner. It basically simulates the colour ofΒ  the ambient lighting adding to everything.

Again, thanks a lot

Hello! I've probably commented on this deviation of yours a couple times in the past... but I just came across it again while going though my tutorials collection, and had to comment again! This has been one of the most helpful tutorials for me -ever-. I'm about to save in in a document titled "Best Tutorials", so that I don't ever ever lose it and I can find it quickly without sifting through the rest of the tutorials I've collected. This is fundamental stuff you cover, yet unfortunately it's not the sort of information that one readily comes across when trying to learn painting! You explain it all so very well. I'm so happy you've documented this for everyone to learn from. ^^ Thanks again!

30% and 70% in Photoshop don't add up to 100% for me. There's still about 12% of the background color showing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheAceofHearts36 In reply to kazerniel [2013-07-06 14:03:36 +0000 UTC]

Try putting the 70% colour as a solid colour (100%) then lay the 30% over it, at actual 30%
