Despite his smile, he doesn’t know where he belongs nor what he should do but he believes that his heart knows the truth."

Personality:

Nirin is an excitable young man whose drunk on life. Happy-go-lucky, he’s optimistic and refuses to ever stop believing in what he thinks is right. He’s stubborn, persistent, and determined to see things through to the end. He’s rather curious and gets into all sorts of trouble because of his inquisitive spirit. Running into danger without a care, he’ll run face first into the void just because he wants to know what’ll happen. His impulsive head gets in the way of planning, actions first! But because of this he can cause more damage than he ever met, meeting with shame and guilt. He doesn’t know how strong he is sometimes and ends up doing more harm than good. He’s struck with incredible amounts of guilt, as he never meant to hurt anyone and just wanted to help. But Nirin always tries his best to stay positive, even when all he wants to do is crumble he stays strong and keeps hope. His spirit although tattered, won’t be broken. He knows that actions speak louder than words, so he’ll try his very best to make up for it. There is incredible kindness and selflessness in his heart, Nirin gives himself up before anyone else easily and gives everything he has to help others. He treats everyone with compassion and mercy, believing that even though the world is cruel- just by being kind to someone, it gets small bit better. It’s the one thing that keeps anyone traveling down their journey, the small miracles in everyday life that makes it all worth it. Even when he knows he’s being taken advantage of, he enables the behavior because he doesn’t want to say “no”. He seemingly avoids denying people, he doesn’t want a change to push anyone away. He works himself to the point of exhaustion with a smile, knowing it was all worth it if he made at least one person smile.

He hides that he’s been hurt or injured, thinking he can deal with it by himself. Nirin doesn’t want anyone to perceive him as “weak” and leave him. He brushes off any weakness and tries his best just to keep the smile on his face to ward off any suspciousion. He wants to protect people, even without close ties to anyone he knows that everyone’s life is precious and deserves to be saved. He’s willing to sacrifice everything that is him just so one person can live. Nirin has been described as one without any malice in his body, he won’t hurt an innocent person and will always protect those who can’t protect themselves. He respects all forms of life, and to the history of the land. Taking only what he needs and trying his best to give back, truly Nirin has been described a friend to all. But this man doesn’t come without his own darkness. Left without a purpose or someone to guide him, he walks alone without a clue of where he should go. Directionless, he’s desperate to find his place where he fits, becoming very susceptible to manipulation by easily trusting others. He’s actually very insecure about his own image- believing that he is out of place. No matter how much he tries to convince himself, there is no doubt that he has no home. No one that anchors him in this world. Linking back to this idea that he isn’t good enough, not yet anyways, and that he has to keep going just to earn love and acceptance. He has to work himself to the bone every single day without rest just to meet the expectations and receive validation from others. He sees this as being fine even though it’s really hurting him inside. He also feels incredible pressure, as people tell him that he has a bright future- a future he can’t see. Nirin believes he has to do something great or his life is for naught, people believe in him, he has to meet their expectations.

He’s actually deeply interested in history, he wants to know the past in order to build a better future for all. Not only that, but the past may have a secret hiding in one of it’s texts about where he comes from. Maybe a clue of his family history, something to tell him what courses through his veins. But then again, he has so many interests because of this. He practices in all sorts of skills and crafts just to see where it “clicks”. See what makes him realize his true heritage. Maybe a long line of bakers, where he can work dough into bread for the table or maybe he came from a family of farmers, tolling away at the Earth and harvesting her bounty. He’s always trying a new skill and working on a hobby, becoming known as a man that knows how to do mostly everything. That doesn’t mean he can do it well but he knows the basics. He doesn’t see this as a good thing and wants to know what he’s really good at so he can dedicate his life around it, finding it annoying that nothing is really sticking. Nirin is also very gullible, believing folk stories meant for the village children and believing in whatever is told to him without a second doubt.

Biography:

Nirin was born without knowing his parents, his memory fading away into nothing as he got older. In a small village that was once jovial and full of life, the sun shined blissfully and the wind played mischievously. His parents loved the baby boy as he grew into a toddler, he can still faintly remember the sweet smell of honey and the taste of the ripe fruit that his mother grew. But in his nightmares he can still feel the terror as the distant screams echoed into the smog filled night sky, burning red embers glowing on the horizon. What he can’t remember was his mother clutching onto him for dear life, her clothes were soaked with her own blood as she struggled to get through the snow. The raiders were merciless, pillaging as they please and greedily snuffing out the village from existence. His father still in the inferno just trying his best to buy his family some time to run. But the harsh kiss of winter as the blizzard blew in wasn’t as kind, his mother coming across a cart of a merchant trying to flee. She begged the merchant to take her son far away, where he can live as she ran off and distracted the raiders. Orphaned, the young Nirin was dropped off on a ship coming to the Visvia region as promised but the merchant didn’t take him in. Instead he gave him to the local orphanage of the coastal village where Nirin was apart of a number of nameless children forgotten. Despite his best efforts, he was never adopted. Nirin as a child did everything he could to be seen as a good child worthy of getting parental love. He spent every waking hour doing something, be that cleaning his room, helping the workers make food for the others, taking care of the younger orphans or his many hobbies to attract potential parents. But he always got the same reaction, away from his prying eyes he could hear them all say they were hesitant taking him in because they didn’t know what he would become.

It sounds silly, but it was the answer he always heard through the walls. Because of what he was, people didn’t know how he would turn out. It seemed as though they wanted to know what their potential child would become and he was too much of a risk. Which was why he tried all sorts of things, trying to find what he was the best in and what was considered good enough to garnish having a loving home. But he never found what they wanted, and he never found what his identity was. Growing up in the orphanage, the closest person he had to a parent was the mistress of the orphanage- a kind aging woman with the kindest smile and the best cookie recipes. To him, she became the only source of support he had in the cold village. But she was elderly and sickly, and Nirin never wanted to worry her. He only wanted her to smile as they all stayed in the orphanage. He kept all his problems to himself, dealing with them by himself, just to take the burden away from her as she cared for children that were abandoned like her own. He was happy, or as happy as he could be waiting in the orphanage. He still had this hope that he would go somewhere called home. But he was happy to listen, to play, to live within the place where children who don’t belong stay. It wasn’t the fact that the funding would so stretched thin that sometimes they barely had enough to eat or the fact that not all the workers in the orphanage had the best intentions that worried Nirin, it was the fact that the elderly owner was slowly fading away. She never said anything about it, but he could tell that she was losing strength. One day, Nirin overheard her speaking to another person saying she’ll close the orphanage. He was only 13 at the time and he begged her to keep the orphanage open but it was out of her control. It turns out that there was a change in the law and that their orphanage was to be replaced by another. She asked him to make a promise that day, “to keep it a secret and be as happy as he always is”.

He did as she asked and the days went on just like they use, except she grew weaker. Her brow was constantly furrowed as she tried everything she could to change it. Everyday, new people would come in and inspect the building, and everyone could feel that they were taking for their own. Nirin still kept his promise and he happily wonder for nights upon nights what was going to happen and if he was doing the right thing. The owner succumbed to exhaustion and on an early dawn, she passed. It was the last time Nirin remembers being unable to hide his tears, crying for nights from her leaving. Left alone, he was left without anyone to guide him. He didn’t stay to see the change, running away as he lived on the streets. He made a decision to leave the only home he knew, never returning because it wasn’t the home he knew anymore. A young boy freed onto the streets, he wandered from village to village trying to find out what was his purpose. Without people that cared about him, what would he do? The world kept moving, people who knew what to do with their lives while he was left behind. Nirin actually tried his best to educate himself, making trips to the local library, book store to sneaking into schools to learn just to find out who he should become. Even as he grew into a young man, that need for love, the need for support never wavered as he tried desperately to find what would finally earn someone else to care about him. He worked odd jobs in all sorts of fields as he traveled from town to town, earning his keep but never planting roots. He never found the place he could call home again.

Feeling forgotten by the world, Nirin refused to give up as he wanted to determine how his own story ended. Taking life by the reins like he always did, he decided to enroll himself into the Novis Academy to find out his future! After all, that’s what school was for right? Even though he wasn’t exactly the smartest, nor did he even have any school record besides the mishmash he provided, he wants to go. He figures a school setting is the safest way to learn about himself as well as the world to find his place. Even though he might be behind other students, that doesn’t mean he won’t work hard to catch up. If Nirin is known for anything, it’s his effort- even if it doesn’t pay off he still tried his all. That also doesn’t mean he isn't also looking for friends! This being the very few times he’ll be staying somewhere for more than a few months, he wants to settle down temporarily and try to root himself by connecting to other people. After all, the more people he meets the more he’ll know about the kind of person he wants to be. All in all, Nirin wants to be a good student even if he gets into some trouble and has to work extra hard.
