Description
I've always liked the 'evil mermaid' concept. This was done using the Lost Realm mermaid and Sirens add-on texture. Her hair is Reby Sky Glamour. His outfit is Leon di Castiglia and Glyn Hair is the hair used.
The background and bubbles were created in Photoshop. I created a Bubble brush based on photo reference and painted them in.
EDIT: Added in the other casualties of the ship wreck
Software - Poser & Photoshop

I've wrote of evil mermaids too, and this must happen in . . . the Sargasso Sea?

Amazing! I never really see depictions of evil mermaids, but this one looks great, especially with all the other casualties floating about. I particularly like how you made the mermaid and the man near her the focal point and blurred everyone else out. That adds quite a bit of depth. Wonderful color and overall style!

Thank you!
I'm sure I saw evil mermaids in a film once and haven't been able to think of them as 'good' anymore (although I totally forgot the film unfortunately). Evil temptresses enticing sailors into dangerous waters (a kind of combination for mermaids and sirens).

I recall seeing evil mermaids in the Peter Pan films (not the disney versions). I wonder what other films they might be in.

Sounds like we may need to embark on a viewing marathon of all films containing mermaids to find out!!

Research is very important - along with eating your greens!
If research happens to be watching DVDs, then so be it!!!

If Disney weren't about, I'm sure everyone would conceded mermaids evil!

This behavior is exactly what I had in mind for my Triton OC...good to know not everyone thinks mer-people are nice and Disney-like..

I'm sure there are some 'nice' mer-folk about... but they are certainly the exception!

this is great! The ''casualties'' where a perfect touch! Only a tiny observation for what seems (to me) to be a conflict between ages and time periods about the ''casualties'' and the main man's clothing. But, sea hides many mysteries anyway!!

Good catch - I was hoping the lens blur would hide some of that!
Unfortunately the main guy's outfit was the only one I had for the time period I was going for and I didn't want them all the look the same as each other so I used some more modern outfits for the rest (but used more earthy textures for them).

Interesting render with wonderful details. An evil mermaid? She looks to be either toying with him or deciding what to do next. Since she is not touching him and there are bubbles coming out of his face, perhaps she is trying to save him....! Man overboard, caught by vicious mermaid... Nice work.

Fabulous rendition, yes indeed mermaids could not all be sweet like the Disney version! Bravo!
