I picked up a cheap CNC engraver and decided the spindle was too wimpy for what I wanted to do with it. I swapped it out for a 2.5W laser and now have a decent laser engraver. I am still trying to dial in on image prep as it is slightly different from my etching graphics...Related content

It burns wood and paper just fine. Engraving, not cutting.
No metals, and I have not tried any plastics yet.

Cool. I'm wishing to paint a piece of metal as a resist, then use a laser engraver to flash off the paint to allow a very precise etching. Thanks for the reply!

Dark flat paint. And overkill on the eye protection... you don't want stray reflections hitting anyone...
