Description
Radiant Hope is a Crystal Unicorn who appeared in the first “Fiendship is Magic” issue and “Siege of the Crystal Empire”. In the former story, she was depicted as the closest friend of King Sombra, which in turn was Sombra’s origin story as to how he became the tyrannical ruler of the Crystal Empire. Near the end of the story, she is also depicted as Sombra’s possible love interest, in that he offers to make her his queen. She later appears again in “Siege of the Crystal Empire”, where she recruits Iron Will, Flim and Flam, Lightning Dust, and Queen Chrysalis to overtake the Crystal Empire, revive King Sombra, and release the Umbrum from their imprisonment underground, having been fooled by the Umbrum into thinking that they were sweet and innocent creatures rather than creatures of darkness.

Having often thought a lot about Radiant Hope for quite a while, as well as if I wanted to upload a modified Gameloft picture of her, I decided that it wouldn’t hurt to do so. However, similar to a great many other MLP comic characters I posted pictures of, Radiant Hope isn’t someone I’m particularly fond of.

In fact, I HATE HER!

I don’t understand why anyone would like her in the first place. She’s bland, infuriatingly naive, and hopelessly one-dimensional. Or two-dimensional if you consider her backstory.

In the first Fiendship is Magic issue, there were moments where Hope came across as a naive bimbo. A prime example being after Sombra turns Princess Amore to stone, because Hope literally just straight up talked to the princess and asked her to snap out of it despite how impossible that’d be.

Other than that, Siege of the Crystal Empire openly painted Hope as an unlikable and morally bankrupt hypocrite. She not only kept putting her trust in the darkest of souls despite the fact that they couldn’t be trusted at all, but she literally had an incredibly warped view on Friendship despite her personality. She put innocent lives and civilizations at risk just so that she could “help her friend”, and even despite the revelations of her mistakes coming to light, she hardly learned a thing from what she did. The fact that she actually got Sombra back in the end only fueled that impression more, because it made her come across as a Mary Sue who secretly only cared about herself and what SHE wanted.

Unlike that of Starlight Glimmer and Sunset Shimmer, Hope never did anything to make up for her mistakes either. It basically made her more deserving of a life in prison or an eternity in Tartarus rather than a happily ever after. Everything she did also gave “friendship” a bad name, as well as cause the morals to come across as openly toxic, especially to where it seemed like the story was teaching that it’s okay to be doing bad things as long as its to “help a friend” and that you’ll get no punishment afterwards.

And yes, I’m well aware that this sort of thing is what people have been saying about Discord because of what he did in “The Ending of the End”, but at least HE paid the price for his mistakes and actually made up for the wrong things he did. Heck, unlike Radiant Hope, HE actually showed sincere and genuine regret for all the things he did.

On the subject of the picture I've just shared...

As I worked on cropping the picture down, I noticed that I needed to do something about Queen Chrysalis's legs showing at the very top. So, I used the object removal feature on my Photos app in order to get rid of the legs. The only problem is that the bigger the thing you're trying to remove is, the more noticeable the marks are. But, I think everything came out passably.
