Description
At the beginning of each project, we have to work out the races of aliens you'll meet on your newest adventure. My favorite is working on the factions you are sympathetic to. These are some early takes on the Fongoids from Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.Related content

These are all really impressive - I thought the fongoids from 'A Crack in Time' were all great and had real personality, nyeh!

I haven't played A Crack in Time yet, but I'll be looking forward to seeing these guys when I do. I really like the bio-luminescence on the horns, as well as the tribal markings on their bodies.

Always loved the character designs from Ratched&Clank because they all have their own faces, body types, accessoires, etc.
Great work

I like seeing how each of the characters came to be what they were in the final project. I'm also really like the huge floppy ears on the earlier concepts. Very interesting stuff!!

Do you work on the concepts until they are this rendered/finished before presenting them? How do you work so quickly on inking/coloring them?

Because its early in the project, we do a lot of roughs. But because we're trying to sell the whole team on ideas, sometimes more resolved images are needed for the team members who aren't used to looking at loose artwork.
We have definitely worked out a fast workflow for these, but its different for every piece. We just have gotten used to the time restraints mostly, so we work fast.

Thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. Its hard to figure out how you guys exactly color these pieces. I have studied your vids over and over again. It is one thing to just color by numbers but the polish you add to the final art just propels it above the normal "coloring ink drawings". I don't get it. It astounds me through and through.
