Description
Yes, for those of you wondering, I am indeed still alive! I've just been swamped by life . . . as usual. That being said, I still am being swamped with life, what with work and summer classes deeply cutting into my time as an artist - something I hope to make into a profession, some day - but I decided that I just needed to submit something to make myself and you lot feel better. For those of you who have watched me for a long time, you might know that I made my own interpretation of what Fasttrack might have looked like had he made an appearance in Ben 10: Omniverse. Sadly, that has not aged well as I have continued to improve my skills as an artist, so I decided rather than making something entirely new, I'd make something old fresh once again. That, and this guy has literally been sitting in my sketchbook for upwards of two years now.
And because I doubt we will get any new information on Fasttrack, his species, or his home world any time soon - if indeed, ever - I have decided to come up with my own flavor text to keep you all entertained! Besides, this latest version comes with some new features (as you might've already noticed)!
Onto the facts!
Name: Fasttrack
Species: Citrakayah
Homeworld: Chalybeas
Powers/abilities: Fasttrack is physically capable of reaching speeds of 250 mph due in part to his incredibly large lungs and sophisticated respiratory system, two hearts, and the retractable sail on his back. The claws on his hands and feet also let him get a grip on a multitude of surfaces, letting him keep up this speed even when switching between different terrains.
The reason Fasttrack's fur is so aerodynamic is because it as hard and sharp as a knife. Each individual strand is surprisingly soft as it is sharp and cane be adjusted as such when needed, a trait that the Citrakayahs evolved to protect themselves from voracious predators and the cold nights on their planet.
Fasttrack possesses a high sense of balance due in part to his long tail, which is almost always constantly moving in order to keep him from falling over when running at such high speeds. In addition, he has a sail on his back that he can raise and lower at will that not only prevents his body from overheating while running, but keeps him on balance as well. This allows him to run on all fours without losing speed and, in fact, grants him greater traction should he need it.
In addition to having sharp teeth and claws, the tip of a Citrakayah's tail is loaded with venom-tipped spikes that they launch like blow darts. The effects of the venom are not particularly deadly, but will cause their victim to become paralyzed; the effect lasts roughly an hour for each spike shot. The spikes themselves eventually regrow to replace themselves.
Because of how his legs are built, Fasttrack is capable of reaching great heights while running, using the momentum he's built up in order to jump farther.
The eyes of a Citrakayah allow them to perceive time differently than most species, essentially and quite literally making a single minute feel like an entire hour. This is what grants them their incredibly reflexes, as they are able to see and thus prepare for virtually any opponent that is slower than them.
Fasttrack possesses a degree of enhanced strength, as he is capable of carrying several people without losing speed.
Weaknesses: Fasttrack has a hard time stopping should he reach a high enough speed.
Unlike XLR8, Fasttrack can not run indefinitely and can only keep his speed up for a limited time before he requires rest. The approximation of each is anywhere between five and ten minutes.
A Citrakayah's venom-laced spikes take up to a week to replace themselves after being launched.
As reflexive as they are, Citrakayah's can be beaten by species whom are faster than them, such as Kinecelerans.
Etymology: Fasttrack's name is the words "fast" and "track" put together, referencing his enhanced speed and the sport track and field .
Trivia: The species name comes from the vernacular name for the cheetah , which is derived from the Hindi word चीता (cītā), which in turn comes from the Sanskrit word चित्रकायः (citrakāyaḥ) meaning "bright" or "variegated".
It is unknown what the Citrakayah home world, Chalybeas, could be referencing, if anything.
Fasttrack visually resembles DC superheroes Nightwing and Blue Beetle while possessing the powers of The Flash.
Unlike Kinecelerans, Citrakayahs' are physically capable reaching such high speeds. By comparison, Kinecelerans merely reach their high speeds by manipulating friction rather than actively pushing their bodies to reach such high velocities.
Due to his extreme similarities to XLR8, one of the Ben 10 series' original aliens, Fasttrack is often disliked and considered a rip-off of XLR8. This disdain is also held by Derrick J. Wyatt, who stated that he is "the most boring alien" and that being a fan of him was "like watching paint dry" ( vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/be…) When asked if there was anything he would have done to make him more unique, Derrick J. Wyatt stated he would have given him "webbed toes" ( vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/be…).
While this information came out far after CreaturemasterProds had finalized the design of his version of Fasttrack, this feature could be said to live on in the addition of a sail to Fasttrack's back.
Citrakayah's are not widely known by the galaxy, referencing the general dislike of them among the Ben 10 fan base.
The 'horns' that Citrakayah have are not actually horns, but rather long tufts of coarse, stiff fur that act as their ears. These tufts are able to discern and pick up vibrations and soundwaves and transmit them to the Citrakayah's brain via their lower jaw, allowing them to perceive sound through an inner ear. They evolved this ability to prevent any external ears from popping when they reach high speeds.
Chalybeas is a temperate world filled with vast grasslands that cover four large continents surrounded by two oceans, though the planet does possess arctic climates on its western and eastern poles. While the planet itself has a normal rotation comparable to that of Earth, its orbit around the sun is rapidly accelerated, making the changing of seasons happen in a matter of days rather than over a series of months. As a result, much of the life on Chalybeas has evolved to move incredibly quickly, the most notable of which are the Citrakayah themselves. While not the fastest species, they are the dominant predators of Chalybeas and use a combination of their immense speed and venom-tipped spikes to hunt prey that moves even faster than they can.
Citrakayah's are generally goodnatured, but very competitive and are always up for a challenge - especially if it's a race. Though they have many different versions, the most beloved involves the competitors chasing a ludicrously fast, gazelle-like animal across an extremely long race track filled with various traps and obstacles; the goal is to catch the animal through speed alone. In spite of this, Citrakayah have a strong sense of respect and sportsmanship and like to remain on good terms with one another so that they can continue to compete together. To them, nothing creates a stronger bond than having a severely competitive race together.
Disclaimer: I do not own Ben 10.
Ben 10 is owned by Man of Action and Cartoon Network.
I only own this version of Fasttrack.
Do not use without their permission.

It keeps him balanced and prevents him from overheating when running.
Unlike Kinecelerans, who merely manipulate friction so that they put virtually no energy into their insane speed, Citrakayah’s are physically capable of reaching such speeds.
Basically, if you were to take away XLR8’s friction manipulation, he wouldn’t be able to run so fast without killing himself.

Thanks! Given how much he has in common with XLR8, I really wanted to make sure he stood out as much as possible without completely redesigning him.

Ah, the elusive Creaturemaster post! *reads your explanation* Damn! Summer classes AND a job? Guess that explains why our ongoing conversation's halted again... I reiterate my most-recent comment's apology for giving you a lot to reply to lately.
Moving onto your new picture... Ah, Fasttrack. Personally, I'm rather neutral to him, even though I do see why some would wonder why the need for another speed-type alien. It's kinda like how Injustice 2 has Captain Cold, Mr. Freeze (as an alternate skin to Captain Cold), and MK's Sub-Zero in it. Some fans be like "Yeah, Sub-Zero... ANOTHER ice-type. Exactly what this game needs, Netherrrealm! Note the sarcasm...".
Anyways, for something you said was a old piece being refreshed, I'd say you did a pretty good job of it, dude. Fasttrack here kinda looks like if Macho Man Randy Savage (the mid/late-90's "n.W.o. Macho Madness" version of him) was some sort of cat/lizard alien who happened to really like the colors blue and green. XD I can just imagine Ben now... "Oooooooh yeah! Snap into a Mr. Smoothies! DIG IT!"

The only thing is the sail and tail spikes. But I think it's a good spin on it... but it's not my favorite. But I'm a Fasttrack fan so you can see where I'm getting it. Also, I wish you added the lightning bolt on the chest.

*gasp* The rare, elusive Fasttrack fan! I thought they were all but extinct!
In all seriousness though, I'm glad you at least appreciate my attempt. There wasn't much I could change about the actual design without recreating him from the ground up, like they did with Eatle, and that wasn't something I wanted to do. As for why I didn't incorporate the lightning pattern into his chest, it was a combination of not wanting his new spots to clash too much with another pattern and the fact that the Omniverse clothing that most of Ben's aliens are (thankfully) clothed in don't necessarily have a unique pattern for each alien.

That makes sense. And there are other Fasttrack fans out there. It's just quite rare.

For some strange reason, my hatred towards Fasttrack has overtime eventually turned into a peaking curiosity & interest in the Alien & I’d like to someday hopefully learn why he was even introduced in UA & if they ever plan on retconning or redesigning Fasttrack in the future.
Sorry for the overflow, but great design!

Nah, don't worry about it. In a way, it kind of makes sense - what was even the point of Fasttrack? Why go to the trouble of designing another alien when they already have an alien that meets their criteria and that fans already love? And that's not even mentioning the extreme similarities between the two.
Kind of makes you wonder if there was some kind of miscommunication behind the scenes so great that it resulted in the creation of Fasttrack - mind you, not only his creation, but actually going to all the trouble of drawing, animating, and voicing him - and they just decided that it would be too hard to remove him. If I remember correctly, his first appearance only involved a brief cameo in which he didn't speak nor shout his name as Ben typically did with his aliens at the time, further adding to the mystery.
If they deliberately added him to the show, why? Again, why not just bring back XLR8? Was there a bigger story to him that they had originally planned out but had to cancel for one reason or another? So many questions left unanswered . . .
Either way, thanks! Nice to see the old piece getting some new appreciation!

Yes exactly! So many unanswered questions and missed opportunities for an explanation, I mean it took until OV for the series to explain what exactly Kevin was. At any rate, you’re welcome & thanks for the great feedback

Actually, I think it was more along the lines of “they finally made up their minds” when it comes to Kevin. First he was a mutant, but that got retconned when they decided to blame everything on aliens. Then Omniverse tried to say “no, not everything is because of aliens” as put its foot down about the matter.
