Description To commemorate the first day of June, what is arguably the first day of summer up where I live (I know it's not technically the first day of summer, but it feels like it), as well as the fact that I have had this guy's genetic blueprints lying around the lab for far too long, I give you my latest creation!

Behold! A redesign of 's alien, Volto! Okay, I took the liberty of renaming the guy and making modifications as I saw fit, but it's still the same guy in principle! I made sure of that with all the DNA I used . . . which I seem to have too much of just lying around for my own good . . . I'm going to have to do some inventory taking and organizing . . . oh, well!

Onto the facts!

Name: Voltage

Species: Eratguron

Home World: Eratgurtek

Powers/abilities: Like Anodites, Eratgurons are composed entirely out of energy. In their case, their bodies are formed out of greatly compacted electricity, which they can then manipulate to a variety of degrees, forming energy balls, whips, or simply releasing powerful electric shocks as required.

By entering a machine, Voltage can drain it of its power or take possession of it and use it like an extra body, similar to how Ectonurites can possess organic beings. This grants Voltage access to all the machine's capabilities and lets him effortlessly leave it behind should he be forced to.

Eratgurons are highly energetic and can bounce around at incredibly high speeds, shooting off from 0 to 300 mph in a matter of seconds.

Eratgurons can also transform their legs into an electrical tail to enable limited flight if needed. They can further this by transforming into a single bolt of electricity to achieve greater speed, especially if they run along powerlines and wiring.

By running an electric current through them, Voltage can manipulate metallic objects to his will.

Weaknesses: Because they are entirely composed of electricity, Eratgurons must stay away from water at all costs. Unfortunately, it doesn't rain on Eratgurtek and most Eratgurons are thus unaware of the dangers that water possesses until it's too late and it dissolves them into their simplest components; this usually means the death of the Eratguron in question, but there have been some cases where their particles have been reassembled and achieved life once more.

Voltage is vulnerable to electricity absorbing metals.

Rubber and other non-conductive and insulating materials can prevent Voltage from taking control of machines or shocking opponents, leaving him greatly vulnerable.

Because most machinery that Voltage takes control of can't handle the massive output of energy he creates, they tend to explode into scrap metal upon leaving them.

Etymology: Voltage's name derives from the same word, which is an electromotive force or potential difference expressed in terms of volts.

Trivia: The species name derives from the word "erratic", which alludes to their somewhat energetic nature.

The home world is a combination of the word "erratic" and "tech" or "technology".

Whenever Voltage talks, an electrical buzz can be heard and sparks can sometimes be seen from his teeth when he is particularly excited or upset about something.

Eratgurtek is, in itself, a living computer. Over thousands of years, the Eratgurons have carved out circuit-like channels and tunnels into the crust of their home world, giving it the allusion of being covered in circuits and wiring. These channels allow for the planet's inhabitants to operate at maximum efficiency without fear of being slowed down; most things that aren't made to be racing around at blinding speeds tend to be destroyed in collisions.

Despite their somewhat unpredictable behavior, Eratgurteks are technological geniuses, enough that the Galvan will willingly admit that they use their computer chips and programming in their own inventions. They are often employed by the Galvan for computer maintenance and have been known to be found around other electrical alien species, namely the Nosedeenians and Amperi.

Like Electric type Pokemon, Eratgurons communicate through electrical charges as they believe speaking with actual words is too slow and time consuming.

I saw you were also a Steven Universe fan, and wanted to ask this: Do you think a Galvanic Mechamorph could upgrade a Gem? Their gemstones are basically just super advanced hologram projection devices.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to ironlegionaire [2019-11-03 04:18:15 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, I don't think so. It's really hard to dictate just what Gems exactly are, since they share a number of features that clash with one another. What we know is this:

- Gems are sentient rocks/minerals who project a body of solid light in order to interact with their environment. This body is more or less like a hologram, but with mass. All (or most) Gems are able to manipulate their body at will on some level and possess a degree of enhanced strength and durability, as well as a number of abilities that are unique to certain Gem types. Furthermore, most Gems are able to produce a weapon from their gemstone that is (theoretically) unique to that gem type, though these weapons can be modified by another Gem if need be.

- Gems are automatically anchored to any planetoid or celestial object they are standing on, meaning they are capable of producing their own gravitational fields, but are supposedly incapable of manipulating them at will.

- Gems will 'poof' when they have sustained too much damage, and this causes their bodies to disappear so that they can put as much energy into repairing themselves, not unlike a body. This also suggest that maintaining their bodies requires effort of some degree and that Gems need some form of energy, or at least, are capable of producing an infinite amount of energy to sustain this process over and over again.

- If a Gem's gem is cracked, this can cause their bodies and forms to become distorted, meaning that any body they try to form at that point will be flawed in appearance and functionality. This is comparable to both a brain and a computer, as the Gem's seem to 'glitch' or spazz out when this happens. If a Gem sustains any more damage and their gem is shattered, this basically ends their existence. If they avoid this however, they can easily live for thousands or years and may even be immortal.

- Gems don't need any known sustenance in order to sustain themselves; this does not mean they are incapable, however, and if what little information has been given can be taken as fact, they will process it like a biological being, taking whatever nutrients, vitamins, and minerals they need and then expelling whatever they can't use back out. Gems also seemingly do not need sleep, but can choose to sleep if they want to. That being said, they may require a period of rest if they go for long lengths of time without doing so. When asleep, Gems seem to be capable of dreaming.

- When interacting with their technology (or at least, one piece of it), a Gem seems to connect with it on some level, much like an external flashdrive. Their eyes will display what could be pieces of information written in their language (a series of lines and slash marks with no discernible pattern that linguists can distinguish; despite this, Gems seem to speak English and can theoretically read human languages).

- Against all odds, Gems can produce viable offspring with humans, though this comes at a great cost. Since Gems do not possess biological organs and their bodies are simply made of hard light, they must create a womb for the offspring to grow in, though it's unknown if this is the only requirement. What is known is that when the period of gestation is over, the Gem (as it is likely that they will carry the offspring) will have to give up their form if the child is to survive, which will essentially kill them. The resulting offspring will have the Gem's gemstone embedded in their body where it was on the Gem's body and this seems to cause no harm or discomfort to them in anyway. The offspring also seem to have access to all of their Gem parent's powers, though how these powers are displayed may differ as a result of the offspring's biology.

- Despite being able to reproduce with biological life, Gems are instead created. In a process similar to plants, something is implanted into the surface of a planetoid and absorbs all the 'good stuff', likely nutrients and minerals needed for the Gem's gemstone to form. after an undisclosed amount of time, the Gem emerges fully formed and grown; there is no infantile of adolescent stage. This process is very harmful to organic life, making it virtually incapable of occupying an area where Gems have been grown. The length of time in which a Gem spends 'growing' and the amount of 'good stuff' absorbed also seems to have an affect on their final form, as Gems who spend too much time in the ground may come out deformed, while Gems who haven't absorbed enough nutrients may be incapable of utilizing basic powers other Gems have.

- Interestingly, Gems can amalgamate, or 'fuse' with other Gems both of and not of their type. In the case of the former, this simply leads to a larger version of the Gem type, with the number of Gems dictating the size; all gemstone locations remain the same. In the case of the latter, this will result in new Gem types with new forms and powers that are a combination of the Gems involved, though these can be displayed individually if needed. These types of fusions are also seprate entities than the sum of their parts, though their personalities are a combination of the Gems involved; there is theoretically no limit to how many Gems may be involved in a fusion.

As repeatedly mentioned, Gems are made of hard light, but possess different traits associated various things, making it virtually impossible to figure out what they are; all we can safely say is that they are not organic in nature (or, at least, don't consider themselves to be organic). So until we know of their origins (hopefully explained in the final season/series), I don't think I can give an absolute answer.

I kind of think that making an alien with similar powers isn’t that big as long as they do something unique. Like with Ben’s electric ones, while they all have electric powers, they have different variations on them. Frankenstrike also has superhuman strength and toughness, whereas Shocksquatch has agility and the ability to move objects with his electricity, Feedback can actually absorb electricity unlike the others, Ampfibian can fly and be used underwater, and Buzzshock can actually turn into electricity and power objects. They all have another way of being besides just being electric guys. It’s like with his flying aliens. Jet ray is the fastest, but stinkfly has more maneuverability, Big chill gives him ice and the ability to phase through things, and Astrodactyl has really intense firepower to use.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to ironlegionaire [2019-11-02 22:37:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's kind of what I've had to do when I get asked to make or redesign aliens whose capabilities are predominately electrically-related, since their additional abilities have to also be themed as such. For instance, AmpFibian is also telepathic and can read someone's thoughts by sensing the electrical impulses in their brain, while Brainstorm is incredibly intelligent as a byproduct of his enormous, electric-producing brain.

Something I've been wanting to do for a while now is make some 'useless' aliens. Ever since their debut, the likes of Walkatrout, Mole-stache, The Worst, and Pesky Dust have gotten a lot of flack since they're not big or flashy or have impressive powers. This kind of upsets me since those people completely miss the point that the Omnitrix was not meant to be a weapon and is, in fact, a DNA archive of sentient species, meaning not every alien in the Omnitrix is going to be a winner. It's also a bit more challenging to come up with aliens who are inherently useless in combat (without outright stating/designing it) or only useful in very niche situations, such as Pesky Dust.

One concept in this department I have is an alien I'm thinking of calling Freezerburn. As cool as the name sounds, the alien is more or less a small, barnacle-like creature that can absorb oxygen through its skin and then expel it at either hot or cold temperatures, essentially being a living AC/Heating unit. The real kicker however, is that this alien can produce hurricane-force winds by doing this, essentially behaving like a living flamethrower or blasting out a blizzard from it's mouth. It's one major weakness, besides its size, is that it can't move and is firmly stuck to where it is until Ben turns into something else, thus making him an alien with unique quirks that need to be worked around, kind of like how Lodestar is only useful when there's metal around or how Ripjaws is more or less confined to the water.

Thoughts?

That sounds like a really interesting idea. Designing aliens that aren’t primarily for combat or are super specific is interesting. Your idea is especially really creative. Never thought of an alien that just can’t move.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to ironlegionaire [2019-11-03 10:01:25 +0000 UTC]

It is a little hard, cause you don't want the alien to be completely useless (as you want a reason for Ben to turn into them outside of a gag; remember the one time Walkatrout was actually useful slipping into the locked down Plumber HQ?), but you don't want them to become a common pick, like some of Ben's other aliens, like Humungousaur or Four Arms when there's heavy lifting to be done.

Then of course, you have to figure out why they wouldn't be suitable for any other situation than the one they're useful in, outside simply only having powers that are useful in that situation. For instance, The Worst is neither fast nor strong, nor does he possess any notable abilities because of his small stature and less than muscular build, but it's that flabby hide that makes him so useful - the one downside, of course, is that he can still feel pain.

And if there's a way for Ben to use the form, but be forced to get creative, then that's even better. For instance, Freezerburn is pretty much locked in place when he transforms, but if he were to transform on someone or something that can be moved, he would be more suitable for combat. This would allow for whoever is carrying him to take the spotlight that Ben would normally occupy and force him to take a more supportive role than he usually does.

Non taken. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, I would like to point two things out:

1. This is not my original alien, it is merely redesign of another artist's creation. Yakkowarner20 is the original creator and humbly requested that I adapt this alien as I have done numerous times with his other aliens.

2. Given the sheer number of electrical aliens that Ben has (Buzzshock, Frankenstrike, Feedback, Shocksquatch, Brainstorm, and AmpFibian), there was bound to be an overlap somewhere. With the exception of NRG's true form however, non of Ben's aliens are energy beings, and that was what I/Yakkowarner20 were going for here. That being said, I could honestly see this being Buzzshock's Ultimate form if he were to ever get one; sort of break out of the battery casing and unleash his true power, you know?

Yeah, I know there's already a lot of electric aliens. I just get asked to do a lot of them.

Anyways, he would be able to control complete robots, such as the robots from Dimension 12, but not biomechanical beings like Talpaedans or Chronosapiens (mostly because they wouldn't be robots if they had DNA and because we don't know whether they are actually robots or not).

So...another alien with Electrokinesis. Great. I'm sorry for sounding cynical here but this series has had so many electric aliens that it gets really boring after a while. I will say that I love the idea of a hyperactive bolt of living electrical energy bouncing around a room taking out an entire army of opponents bouncing around with a slasher grin on its face though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CreaturemasterProds In reply to Danny-Buckle [2017-06-20 18:14:00 +0000 UTC]

Don't worry about it, I already know that there are a lot of electrical aliens that Ben has. I try to make them all a little different both design and power wise, but, you know, they have to has electrokinesis as a staple somewhere. I wouldn't say this is really me adding a new alien to Ben's roster however, this is more or less just be doing my take on other people's alien creations or improving them upon their request (which isn't necessarily asked but is often implied in the resulting comments of a few).

But yeah, I went for more an electric maniac (think Junkrat but with his Junkenstein skin) that would be bouncing all over the place than the usual electrical powerhouse. Thanks for the comment! So glad to have you back!
