Well this has certainly pissed the trolls off. :iconthundercrashshrug: I'm okay with that. I knew that it would. So what the matter trolls? U mad?
It's hilarious that some people are ACTUALLY arguing:
Paraphrased: "You cant do things that are non-canon, but I can."
They must be getting really pissed off.
Apparently I pissed of a Nazi calling themself "JessicaBlood" into "trolling" me. Haha...
They didn't understand the basic concept of multiversal theory when laid out for them... course nobody ever said nazi's were bright.
And the idiots are still letting me troll them. It's hilarious. :trollfacplz:

I understand everything that was said but I can't wrap my head around where the numbers for Dinky came from.
My brain seriously derped for ten straight minutes trying to figure it out.

The numbers for dinky came from Derpy and the doctor Half from Derpy, half from the doctor, but not exactly half of each of the parents traits.
The actual numbers for The Doctor and Derpy are just arbitrary examples of what numbers are possible for the result. I have no way of actually analyzing the ponies' DNA. So these numbers are just a possible set rather than anything official.

Do you know that there were ACTUAL,non-animation error unipeg [alicorn is wrong word-it means unicorn horn, mostly one that is separated from the body-,and it being used by tons of people don't make it right] in "My little pony tales" episode "Up,up and away"?.Unfortunately, her toy was a unicorn, but still awesome-see-through plastic with glow-in-the dark elements

Actually that's exactly the way language works. Enough people use a word a certain way it picks up that meaning. The word gay used to mean happy and boner used to mean a mistake. You google the word alicorn and you'll mostly see winged unicorns rather than unicorn horns. Personally I find the new definition more palletable than the old, and it sounds better than attempts to mash the other words together like unipeg or pegicorn. Pegasus doesn't mean anything about wings, but abot a spring/fountain origin, and there is a winged unicorn refered to as an alicorn in spanish lore. Since the current pegasus is a deveration from the original pegasus then the current alicorns can be derived from that winged unicorn. Most of the "alicorn" from the other definition that actually existed was actually narwhle horn and was made out of creatine, the same substance as rhino horns and fingernails anyway.

I'm also going to point out that "ala" in latin means wing. and the way it conjoins into "Wings on the feet" is it becomes ali to form "Alipes"; "cornu" being the part of unicorn meaning horn.
So if we're going with corn meaning horn from latin, why not include the wing in latin? "Winged horn" in latin would be "Alicorn".
And I googled "Equalacorn" I found a few goth sites selling jewelry and nothing more.
I'll go with the latin "Alicorn". Pegasus and unicorn are also latin so why not go with what makes the most sense? "Alicorn."

Nope never heard of it "horse with horn" is stil not very good sounding. I'll stick with the proper noun turned into common useage that fits along the same lines as pegasus did; Alicorn.

This theory seems pretty reasonable and actually makes sense. It may even fit in canon since I saw a comment by Faust once where she said she couldn't see why the various pony races couldn't mix it up.

Actually they're not. And only people who are trolls that don't really understand what a mary sue is or what an alicorn OC actually is would say that.
In order to be a mary sue you need to have an excessive ammount of mary sue traits, one or two just won't do it. "Having something that doesn't appear in the regular canon" is not enough. And having one or two Mary Sue traits doesn't cut it either.
If you were to run some canon characters through a litmus test they'd actually fail. Look at avatar the last airbender. All of the main cast fail mary sue litmus tests pretty hard, what with them all being able to surpass any of the other rules set up in the canon.
And yes, canon characters can be sues just as much as OCs. You get characterws like Bella from twilight which is an obvious self insert sue where she has guys fighting over her despite having no real personality and now reason for these guys to suddenly take an interest in her.
You'll notice a number of dark coated even untoward black coated OC ponies running around in the fandom. Luna was the only one established as having that dark of a coat. does haveing a coat color that's not seen in the show make you a sue? Nope, simply having a trait that is not in the show is not enough. Likewise simply having a horn and wings wouldn't be enough either.
And I wouldn't listen to hasbro on the matter. In one of their official TV spots they said that Celestia was the only one with a unicorn's horn and a pegasus's wings.
That's a load because Luna exists that breaks that. So you can't take what hasbro has officially said. And if you'll read the first part of the course you'll see how they've depicted alicorns before with baby surprise in one of the specials, and the explination as to how their can be other alicorns in worlds/dimensions/realities outside of the canon.
Also I'm pretty sure you do get half of your genetics from your mother and half of your genetics from your father. Also this only adresses the chemical coding that revolves around what type of pony a given character is and not the entireity of all of their genetics. This section of the coding does not entail the things like coat color or eye color, that would be a different section of their DNA.

holy wow that is super cool and indepth! i love it!! i've tried to explain pony genetics once, but i had it so much simpiler with super dominate Unicorn, and Pegasus genes, dominate Earth genes, and a recessive Earth genes, sort of like with blood types, but that is so basic and bland. This though, this I adore! Thank you for presenting this in such a wonderful, clean, and entertaining way.

wow, new head cannon aquired. thanks bronie.
but i have a question; what lead you to belive that pinkie had alot of unicorn traits in her blood? and as a follow up to that: why is it assumed to be caused by genetics and not by her experiences being around unicorns or just her personality in general?
but, yeah i can support unicorns being common because in G1 they were pretty much on the same level as the other ponies but, given a horn and wings as a gimmick so that they could be more sellable like the flutterponies and the seaponies (shoo doo shoo doo be doop). other than that they pretty much acted just like the other ponies.
I think that the alicorn was given ruling status in g4 because of the fact that they equally represent all three types of ponies and would therefore not be partial to any one type of pony and would hopefully eliminate bigotry between the ponies (though it looks like they are still working on equal rights for zebras and bison). as a result of ethic barriers being removed, i can see intermixing between pure or nearly pure gene unicorns and pegasi happening and creating common alicorns for the first few 1000 sand years of equestria but, slowly as these alicorns start with mixed breed ponies of the other types, i see the number of alicorns being reduced due to the greater diffrences pony genetic levels being created between these pairs, which is why they are so uncommon in the current time of the cannon. but i imagine that there are still cases in the current time where common alicorns exist.
(CONFOUND THESE PONIES, THEY DRIVE ME TO SCIENCE!)

Because of some of the "played for laugh" looney tunes-esque things she does. The teleporting and pulling items out of nowhere. I can actually name the spells she uses that are in the spell list of this one class in Rifts. She does things like "Trampoline", "Balloon Flight", "Armor Bizzare" and "Laugh of Excorsism" to name a few.
I know its just for the sake of comedy, but she appears in places before rainbow dash gets there in two episodes. She pops up out of a bowl of sponges and out of an apple stand, that weird costume she pulled out of nowhere in Dragonshy was much like the "Armor Bizzare" spell from rifts.
So its not so much the personality as the abilities. What she chooses to do is pure Pinkie. The fact that she can do it is magical.

I really do love your "Crash Courses."
What I don't love is how one moment people who claim to be part of the herd can be so hostile, prejudice and selfish about such things as Alicorn OCs and then turn around and say that MLP-FiM, or just any MLP generation in general, has made an impact on their lives.
If it has done as such then they would think twice before posting such hateful comments. If anything it would've taught them to tolerate that others have different views and likings to them - including when it comes to what they want THEIR OC character to look like or what species they are.
Anyway...
I like the idea of Alicorns.
My non-MLP character Allessandra is one - her mother was a white pegasus and her father a black unicorn. But in the universe they exist in, the two species cannot breed without consequences - Ally has mutations where her pupil is not visible and the bones of her tail are visible.
~ Ally & Anna in a MLP style: [link]
But no one would care that she is an Alicorn, as long as she isn't an OC for MLP:FiM.

I know what you mean. You shouldn't need one, but even when given a reason to ignore things you don't like people still argue against it. On top of that they get insulting and insist that the insults are just "critique".
I still don't see the big deal about Alicorn OC's is. I've never encountered one that was supposed to be "god-tier" I've just seen them being portrayed as a regular ponies.
Hasbro cant even keep things straight. In one of their official videos they say that celestia is the only one. That is incorrect becuase of Princess Luna. Lauren Faust said that Rainbow Dash wouldn't be a good big sister, but given her intertactions with the others especially the CMC that can't be true either. So its not uncommon for things to be different than the way its said to be.

Why would I have any desire to try and discuss things with someone who's only shown themselves to be hostile? There's no reason I should put up with abuse.

What she was doing was giving an honest critism. NOT trolling. Trolling is throwing a blunt harsh flame. I've been on the internet for as long as it's been available. Trolling can bed done subtly it doen't have to contain lolspeak. People with a brain would see that using the term sue doesn't make a statement a flame. As long as they have a good reason why they use the term, it's fine. If they just went, "Wow.
