Background:

Nari Hyeon was born to mixed parents and is of Korean American descent. Shortly after her birth, her Korean mother separated from her father and moved them to South Korea, where Nari grew up and became interested in medicine and charity work. When she was 18 she followed in her mother's footsteps and entered the South Korean Military, serving in the Navy for four years before she was honorably discharged and moved back to the United States to pursue her college education. Upon her return she reunited with her father and the two have a strong bond to this day, though that has caused a strain on Nari's relationship with her mother, who stayed behind in South Korea. Nari eventually decided to become a chiropractor and traveled the world for a few years to pick up as many interesting techniques as she could. Along the way she spent two years in China where she studied Wing Chun and Wu Shu, adding them to her already impressive martial arts background that included Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do. She would later add Karate to this impressive resume when she returned home to the United States. Along the way she also picked up the hobby of making her own herbal teas, so when she decided to finally open her chiropractic practice in Steel City, she created a joint business that also included a zen garden themed tea bar. After a few years in Steel City, Nari's powers began to manifest and she decided to create a costume and become the Jade Lotus, inspired by Steel City's heroine Crimson Dynamo to use her powers for the greater good.

Befriends the Crimson Dynamo after becoming Jade Lotus due to Crimson's influence on her. Tries to open and run a small chiropractic business in a neighborhood that is loosely controlled by a Triad gang lord. Constantly harassed by the gang for "protection money," though she strikes back at them here and there as Jade Lotus. She and Crimson have many adventures together, but one day when the Triad goons demand protection money she tells them no and beats them up and sends them running back to the gang lord. In retaliation they burn down her business and nearly kill her in the process. She contacts Tiffany, but before she can arrive Nari gets reckless and pursues the gang lord as Jade Lotus, walking into a trap where she is overwhelmed by the gang's sheer numbers and beaten into submission. She is handcuffed and thrown in a ring where the gang lord continues to beat her up, until Crimson arrives and defeats the gang members with several gas grenades and takes out the gang lord with her stun blasts. Nari recovers at Tiffany's home while the Triad gang is defeated with most of their members going to prison, their remnants being absorbed into Madame Dragon's rag tag gang. Tiffany gifts Nari enough money to get a property in a nicer part of town and Nari works on opening her new business, a chiropractic place with a natural tea bar for a complete relaxation experience. She thanks Tiffany by giving her a special "Lotus" massage, a technique she learned in the Orient during her travels. She continues to aid Crimson as Jade Lotus, and meets many other heroines along the way like Azure Phoenix, Shadow Samurai, Nocturne, Silhouette, Mindy Marvel, and many others.

Mannerisms:

Nari is an incredibly intelligent and tactical woman. She likes to have a handle on a situation and know most of the facts before diving in. Despite her well put together persona, she can still be quite shy and uncertain when it comes to being the Jade Lotus. She is still very new to the world of being a super heroine and can find it overwhelming and a bit nerve wracking at times despite appearing calm and relaxed on the surface. Her many years of martial arts training have allowed her to keep her emotions in check even if she isn't feeling comfortable in a situation. She is a little guarded around most people, though she is pleasant to her clients and patrons, but quickly opens up to close friends. While inexperienced as a super hero, her calm and collected demeanor makes it appear that she is in control of most situations.

Costume and Style of Dress:

In her normal daily affairs Nari is often found wearing professional clothing or oriental style dresses. She prefers to look very elegant for her clients and when she is out in public. Her super heroine costume consists of a high cut dark green legless bodysuit with a white silk waist sash, white knee high boots with reinforced heels and toe boxes, white elbow length gloves, and a dark green butterfly shaped eye mask. She normally wears her hair in a short and slightly loose ponytail while in her heroine identity.

After her harrowing encounter with the Triad gang, Nari goes through a bit of a rebirth process as she becomes a more serious heroine, and with Tiffany's help she crafts a new costume that consists of a martial arts fighting dress that allows her to look elegant but still move freely when fighting. She keeps her white boots and gloves, and wears a matching white sash. She also gets an upgraded mask that adheres to her face seamlessly with the use of Tiffany's nanite based technology. The dress is made from a special fabric that mixes Tiffany's nano-flex fabric with a mystical silk that Nari learned how to weave during her travels abroad. She fashions her hair in a loose single bun or ponytail with her bangs hanging down in front of her face.

Powers:

Main Power: Chi Manipulation and "Iron" Skin

Nari still isn't sure or aware of where her powers came from, but she is able to manipulate her body's unique "chi" energy to form powerful attacks, increase and boost her movement speed and leaping abilities, or to soothe other's injuries. She is also a world class martial artist, having been trained from a very young age by her mother, in addition to more training in the South Korean Navy, as well as in her world travels. She knows several forms which makes her a versatile and unpredictable combatant. She can use her chi manipulation to create small short range ki blasts that hit with the force of a shotgun slug and have the power to damage robots and incapacitate human targets. Nari also has what she dubs "Iron Skin," a strange mutation which has given her skin the durability of very thick leather. Her skin is capable of taking small arms fire and knife blades without breaking or being cut. She can also use her chi manipulation to create a thin layer of energy armor around her body, making her incredibly durable for a short period of time. In addition to her normal powers, Nari rounds out her unique repertoire with her amazing parkour skills and heightened fitness levels.

Touch of the Lotus - Nari possesses the ability to tap into a person's chi energy, even if that person can't sense it or manipulate it themselves. She is able to incorporate this into a special massage technique she reserves for only her closest and most dear friends. Using this skill, she is able to remove all of the "negative energy" from a person's body, cleansing them and resetting their spiritual balance so that they can fully rest and rejuvenate. It is a deeply soul touching and intimate experience that only a few of Nari's super heroine friends have had the pleasure of experiencing. It normally starts with the person enjoying a relaxing cup of special tea made from Nari's lotus blossom, and then she brings the person into a massage room where relaxing incense is burning. She slowly strips them of their outfit or costume, massaging them as she goes, slowly manipulating their energy to their body's core. Once they are fully naked she lays them down on the massage table and uses her special touch along with a soothing lotus blossom oil to rub them down until she has gathered all of their negative energy in once place, which she then releases through a rather intimate method, often resulting in the person enjoying a rather intense sensual experience before passing out completely into a deep sleep that allows them to recover and rest until they are fully cleansed and rejuvenated. Nari first used the technique on Tiffany after she was badly beaten up by Doctor Kotetsu, and the experience was so intense that Tiffany momentarily lost her powers and Nari was able to bypass her body's genetic lock and remove her otherwise impossible to remove mask. This ability leaves the person receiving the massage incredibly vulnerable for a short period of time, which is why Nari only offers it to her closest and dearest friends while in a safe place.

Weaknesses:

Normal Human: Despite her incredible abilities, Nari is still just a normal human and she can be knocked out by most normal methods, including heavy blows to the head, gas, chloroform, electrical shocks, etc. Her chi manipulation allows her to resist certain types of attacks, but prolonged exposure to them will eventually harm her. In addition, over use of her chi abilities can leave her exhausted and vulnerable. Her Iron Skin ability makes her quite a bit more durable, but it requires concentration for her to maintain it and uses up her energy reserves if she takes too much damage, leaving her vulnerable.
