A little something I painted last night for the sake of practice (and to represent one of my characters).I used this photo for reference: brokenheartsanonymous.files.wo… and then I added blood without reference (which probably wasn't the smartest idea ever).
All in all, I think it turned out alright XD
About four hours in Paint Tool SAI--although, I will admit that most of the time was spent figuring out how to approach painting the blood.
And to all my fellow Americans out there, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!! Enjoy the fireworks ^_^

I mean, I'm not sure I've ever seen a photo of a significant amount of real blood... artificial blood, like the movie/theater thing, it seems a bit different.
Then again, it could be like food photography: I think you've heard that there are special photographers who work for cooking magazines etc and the food they shoot is not the real deal but rather non-edible stuff made to look pretty. Maybe real blood won't look much like what we expect to see when we think about it.

Well, I mean, I've had cuts before XD But I figure to get the most accurate reference, I'd have to look at real injuries.

True, but if we are speaking about photos of injuries, these may be sort of... classified? I don't know. In Russia these days all sorts of information is being taken off the web and out of widely available books, like information about suicide methods and stuff, because it may be "dangerous to children". Same as movies are censored with gore being taken out, etc. Does anything like that happen in the States these days?
